Anime Review: Phi Brain: Puzzle of God 2 - 23

The Final Ring is complete. Praise be to Klondike-sama.
——
Can Klondike be stopped? Definitely. With the power of Apple Juice anything can be done. But seriously, I was shocked when Jikukawa showed up and delivered that great line. With him back involved they could scheme to take down Klondike-sama.

Jikukawa revealed the truth about the Orpheus Order. The formation of the Orpheus Order was intriguing and quite creative. The group was initially tasked with trying to free humanity from God with the Orpheus Ring. When a certain man joined the group things changed. Using the promise of science with a touch of charisma, this man, Klondike-sama, managed to convince the group to dismantle the Orpheus Ring, creating a replica.

Klondike was ruthless in his search for unlocking the truth of the Replica Ring. He was the cause of the hurt inflicted upon Freecell. It was pretty emotional to see the scenes as Freecell’s mom was put in such turmoil over being the first to be experimented on with the Replica Ring. The Ring warped her heart over time, vexing her greatly. Being in a such a condition she was faced with turbulent emotional activity, loving Freecell one moment and hating him the next. It was tragic and sad.

While Rook and Bishop dealt with the students and surprising them, the POG and remaining members of the Orpheus Order who were aligned with good attempted to halt Klondike’s attempt to rise to power. What this consisted of was a fun set of events in which the group attempted to hijack the elevator and emergency door systems to keep him from leaving his building.

Unfortunately for them, the Final Ring worked flawlessly, making Klondike essentially all-knowing. His ability to see into the future allowed him to remain a step ahead, bypassing every attempt to slow him down. However, what his ring didn’t foresee, and what was one of the more shocking reveals all season, was the betrayal of Hoist.
Episode 23 was good. The entire hacking scheme in the building was great for the eight or so minutes entailed, and beyond that, the last four or so minutes were quite epic with action and betrayal. Freecell arriving to take down both Hoist and Melancholy was the best part. I think it is safe to say with all of this in place, as well as Freecell serving as the final boss for Kaito, they managed to make this anime as good as its first season. I cannot wait to see exactly what Freecell’s puzzle time with Kaito will be.
GO Rating: 4/5
