Marvel NOW! Spidey And Wolverine For January?

[via]

It seems the next stages for Marvel NOW! are in the works as Marvel’s solicitations for December 2012 confirm that The Amazing Spider-Man will be ending with its 700th issue while Wolverine will close with #317. Given that those are two of Marvel’s biggest and most popular characters, it’s pretty evident that January will yield the Marvel NOW! reboots of both these title.

Also ending is Captain America and… with issue #640 which stars Black Widow in the guest role.

More info after the cut!

For a few months Dan Slott has been teasing big events to be happening in both ASM #698 and #700, the former featuring a cover of a dying Doctor Octopus speaking Peter Parker’s name, so it seems like whatever he has in store for the character will directly lead into his status quo for Marvel NOW! We did get a teaser last week reading “Superior” with no creator credits, so perhaps that has something to do with the new Spider-Man title to launch in January? The Superior Spider-Man doesn’t really have the best ring to it…

Also notable is the fact that all the creative teams on the Marvel NOW! titles have changed with their reboot, but it seems like Spidey could be the first to retain his current writer in Dan Slott. Back when NOW! was first being teased Marvel editors mentioned that changes would come to the character to solidify his role in Marvel NOW! but that it was part of Slott’s ongoing tale, so there seems to be a pretty strong chance he’ll be hanging around the title for a while.

As for Wolverine, as said earlier, he is such a popular character that there’s no way he won’t be seeing a new title. But as far as creative team goes that’s really up in the air. Cullen Bunn wrote a story after Jason Aaron left the title, and then he’s the writer taking the book to its end with #317, but chances are he won’t be returning to the book with the relaunch.
