Anime Review: Sword Art Online - 12

I dunno. Frog meat sounds like it could be good. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it.

Pretty much what I expected. Of course, that came from the fact that I know what to expect. A little too over-the-top in the whole mushiness is concerned, but ya’ know. If that’s what you like, then who am I to judge? There was a very nice tie-in to the beginning of the series in Kibaou becoming a Front officer. I don’t think that was the case in the actual chapter, but then I wasn’t really reading closely. Still, featuring Kibaou gave the show a surprising boost in consistency. Not that it wasn’t consistent with itself before, but it made Sword Art Online more believable.

It did seem like there was quite a bit of summarizing and omission in the explanations and progression of the story. But aside from being noticeable, I can’t really critique it. It was definitely different from what I remember. The anime doesn’t really explain how Yui got her memory back, only that the timing was serendipitous. And the show doesn’t really flesh out the whole kids in the church thing. But these are pretty small oversights. There are probably lots of other holes I can poke into this, but it would be exhausting and come off as nitpicky. On the whole, this was decent. There’s only so much complaining I can do without feeling like a jerk.

I have absolutely no idea what the next episode is going to be about. Probably moving onto Kirito and Asuna moving back to the front lines. Which is a darn shame. I want the fishing story next.
