The Weekly Pull List: 10/03/12

Hello there, and welcome, to the latest edition of the Weekly Pull List!

Every week I team up with fellow comics contributors Chris (littleyellowboxes) and Ryley (ryley-stbatman) as we go through the week’s releases and spotlight our five most anticipated comics from our Pull Lists.

And well, it is one heck of a big week this time, as we have beginnings of “Rise of the Third Army” starting in Green Lantern, endings as Avengers vs. X-Men #12 hits stores, and the beginning of endings, as Brian Michael Bendis returns to write the final Daredevil story in Daredevil: End of Days.

So what made our picks this week? Read on to find out!

CHRIS’S PICKS

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #695

Spider-Man enters the Danger Zone! When the Kingpin finds a way to turn Spidey’s greatest weapon against him, Spidey thinks his life can’t get any worse. But then, Roderick Kingsley returns, and he has his sights set on the new Hobgoblin, Phil Urich, and Spidey finds himself in the middle of a goblin war!

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #12

This is it. It all comes down to this. It’s the assembled Avengers, the unified X-Men, the Scarlet Witch, and Hope Summers against the newest incarnation of the Dark Phoenix, Cyclops, and it’s all to play for in this climactic conclusion to this year’s summer event extravaganza!

DIAL H #5

Manteau and Nelson are trapped between Abyss and X.N, and with only one working H Dial between them, it looks like they’re out of luck already. With the Zero issue’s shocking development about the nature of the H Dial’s power, will our dynamic duo last long enough to discover its secrets?

GREEN LANTERN #13

It’s been coming for a while, and now it’s finally here. The Guardians have unleashed their Third Army across the universe, but Hal Jordan and Sinestro are nowhere to be found. Instead, Simon Baz finds himself as the newest Green Lantern of Earth, and the Justice League aren’t pleased about it. Time for a good ol’ fashioned superhero throwdown!

MINIMUM CARNAGE: ALPHA #1

The smaller they are, the harder they kill. The Scarlet Spider and Agent Venom find themselves forced to work together when the murderous symbiote known as Carnage returns to wreck havoc through an entire universe—and now Kaine and Flash are the Microverse’s only hope!

RYLEY’S PICKS

ACTION COMICS #13

As Grant Morrison brings his Action Comics run to an end (with issue #17 rather than the previously reported #16) everything starts to come together. Plus, this issue features Krypto, the Phantom Zone, and the Phantom Stranger, as well as art by a personal favorite of mine: Travel Foreman.

ANIMAL MAN #13

Part one of “Rotworld: The Red Kingdom” is here, and I couldn’t be more excited. Everything that Jeff Lemire has been leading to since issue #1 is finally here and, frankly, it’s going to be awesome. The Justice League Dark and Beast Boy join Animal Man against the forces of the Rot.

GREEN LANTERN #13

Another big event starts this week in the “Rise of the Third Army” crossover. The Guardians are tired of the emotions that hold back their lanterns, so they’ve created a new force that is set to destroy the entire Corps. This issue seems to star the new GL, Simon Baz, who made an impressive debut last issue.

SWAMP THING #13

Just like in Animal Man, “Rotworld: The Green Kingdom” begins over here. Poison Ivy and Deadman join Swamp Thing against the forces of the Rot. If you’ve been following the series so far, there’s no reason to miss out on this one. And anyone who hasn’t been following, this may be the perfect jumping on point.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #32

As we get closer to this series’ conclusion, the stakes remain high. It’s X-Force against the new Brotherhood (who don’t quite know how to play well with each other). Plus, what’s going to happen to drive Genesis to becoming Apocalypse?

RYLEY IS ALSO PICKING UP…

- AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #695

- DIAL H #5

- EARTH 2 #5

- SWEET TOOTH #38

- UNCANNY X-MEN #19

- MAN-THING OMNIBUS HC

- MARVEL ZOMNIBUS HC

- THE WALKING DEAD COMPENDIUM TP

SAM’S PICKS

ANIMAL MAN #13

The #0s have passed, so now we can go back to where we left off! And for Buddy Baker, it wasn’t a particularly good place, having discovered that along with Alec he had failed—the Rot had already won! Fortunately, Buddy is not the only hero in this devastated future, as he discovers that the Justice League Dark are still in action! Part one of Animal Man’s story in “Rotworld” begins here!

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #12

The finale of “Avengers Vs. X-Men” is finally here, and things don’t look too good for the new Avengers-X-Men alliance. After a desperate struggle, Cyclops has finally succumbed to the power of the Dark Phoenix. It all ends here!

DAREDEVIL: END OF DAYS #1

Brian Michael Bendis returns to Daredevil! Set in the not too distant future, Daredevil lies dead, leaving Ben Urich a final story to write as an investigative reporter. But is all as it seems? And just what other secrets had Matt been hiding?

GREEN LANTERN #13

Simon Baz is the new Green Lantern of Earth. And he has no idea what he is doing. Sound familiar? Well it shouldn’t, since Kyle never had the insane plans of the Guardians to contend with! Alone and confused, Simon needs to embrace his new calling quickly, otherwise the “Rise of the Third Army” will ensure the destruction of all the Corps!

SWAMP THING #13

Like with Buddy, Alec Holland has failed to prevent the Rot from conquering the world. This issue reveals just what happened in the year the two were gone, and sees the start of Swamp Thing’s team-up with Poison Ivy and Deadman, as the struggle against the Rot begins anew!

SAM IS ALSO PICKING UP…

- 2000 AD PROG 1803

- ACTION COMICS #13

- AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #695

- DIAL H #5

- UNCANNY X-MEN #19
