Weekend Remix: The Doctor Is In
Song: Doctor Who Theme Tune On Minimoog Old School
By: Hyperdust
Based On: Doctor Who Theme
Original Composers: Ron Grainer And Delia Derbyshire
The past few weeks, I’ve been on a quest.
After the barrage of images, scenes, and quotes that would appear on my Tumblr Dashboard, I finally decided to see what was the big deal about Doctor Who. After a few mini-marathon sessions, long readings of Wikipedia entries, and lurking on Doctor Who Fan Forums, I’ve come to a couple of conclusions.
One, I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of this deep and engaging sci-fi series though I look forward to learning more about it. Two, the Doctor Who Theme has played host to a staggering amount of remixes and covers.
Ron Grainer and Delia Derbyshire managed to come up with one of the most memorable and coolest electronic pieces that has tickled the ears of countless fans. Choosing a remix for this week was tough, as there are a lot of good remixes online. But something about Hyperdust’s mini-moog seemed right. It’s like Hyper’s minimoog remix surrounds the original theme in layers of haunting, delayed notes that places it in a cocoon of sci-fi eeriness and mystery. And it’s even more impressive when you consider this is all done on a Minimoog. In fact, check out the video for this mix.

Until next weekend…GO Party!
