Manga Review: Naruto - 604

An empowered Obito tries to rise to action!
——
After months of hardcore training under the express and supportive direction of Zetsu, Obito rose to go above and beyond the call of duty and rescue his dear friends from whatever trouble ailed them. Obito, separated for months possibly, still remained steadfast, believing in himself and holding firm to his promise to protect his friends. He ought to be applauded for committing to such an idea. One who is in such an unfortunate and weak state, trying to protect stronger people around him, is a saint.

Madara still proved to be a nebulous entity. Why couldn’t he leave, and what did he want with Obito? During the entire time Obito has stayed with him, which should be for a few months, why hadn’t he discussed how he was going to pay Madara back? Madara’s emphasis on this fact of pay back, seemed interesting for the fact that it may be something that will require great sacrifice from Obito. Could it be a larger than life commitment?

Rushing to the destination served as the contents for a larger part of the volume. Kishimoto could have spent a few more panels in the forest. Often times in the series, characters flying and dashing through the trees looks enjoyable and entertaining, as they do fantastic acrobatics across the terrain. That aspect felt lacking for this section as instead, he focused on dialogue and building suspense with that, which was happening on the battlefield with Kakashi and Rin.

Overall, chapter 604 proved to be interesting while leaving us with a question that would no doubt offer much discussion. Why was Rin in a position to require Kakashi to stab her and possibly kill her? What disadvantage did she put her comrade and team in to make her the weakest link that could only be offed to get them out of their precarious situation? How would Obito take this? Would he let rational reasoning out the door and emotion take over, causing him to have a grudge against Kakashi for the rest of his life? I think that question is definitely a possibility, however the rationale for what happened to Rin has been on my mind for hours after reading the chapter. Good.
