CHRIS’S PICKS

DARK AVENGERS #182
It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here - the Dark Avengers and the Thunderbolts, at war with each other! The Thunderbolts have to stop the Dark Avengers from allowing the Cataclysm to come to pass, and they’re calling in the big guns to do it - enter Cain Marko, the original Juggernaut!

GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #13
With his previous team no longer around, Kyle has a new mission - he must master the emotional spectrum in order to become a White Lantern, the only hope of saving Hal Jordan and Sinestro from their apparent fate at the hands of Black Hand. Alongside him is Carol Ferris, the Star Sapphire, and their first order of business - channelling the darker sides of their emotions.

THE MIGHTY THOR #21
“Everything Burns” concludes as Thor, Hela, and the armies of Valhalla take the fight to Surtur! But what about Loki and Leah, who were last seen in Surtur’s clutches, about to be destroyed by his all-consuming flames? And finally, what about Surtur’s forces, the Manchester Gods, who are waging wars across the Nine Realms? Can King Volstagg and the All-Mothers save all of existence? No pressure, guys.

VENOM #26
Venom and the Scarlet Spider find themselves trapped in the Microverse as their pursuit of Carnage goes wrong from the start. Separated and stuck in an unfamiliar land, both heroes must quickly acclimatize to their new predicament, because Carnage is wasting no time as his kill spree continues in “Minimum Carnage” Part 3!

X-FACTOR #245
In the final day of “Breaking Points”, X-Factor faces its toughest challenge yet. With Wolfsbane, Banshee, and Strong Guy all missing from their ranks, the team has almost fallen apart. Now comes the final hurdle; can the team make it through this final day without losing any more members? Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it, as X-Factor stands forever changed!

RYLEY’S PICKS

DAREDEVIL #19
As always, Daredevil is one of the books I look forward to the most in the weeks it’s due out, and with good reason. Mark Waid constantly delivers a fantastic story in every issue, and Chris Samnee has been doing a great job on the art since he came on the book. Add to this the fact that the current story is really putting DD through more than any man should be able to handle including everything and anything to make him think he’s lost his mind and you’ve got a winner of a comic.
If you aren’t already reading Daredevil you really owe it to yourself to jump on as soon as possible.

HAWKEYE #3
Another series that has been consistently amazing is Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye. Full of great character moments and amazing art from David Aja, this book is Fraction at his best. If you fell for the character in The Avengers then you really must pick this book up!

THE MIGHTY THOR #21
The “Everything Burns” crossover ends here! Sure, there are still aftermath issues left in both Journey into Mystery and The Mighty Thor, but this issue is sure to have the action-packed conclusion to the crossover that has rocked Asgard to its core. Needless to say not everyone is making it out of this the same way they went in.

SWORD OF SORCERY #1
Last months #0 issue of this new series really impressed me. It gave an interesting protagonist and introduced a world that’s very original compared to anything in DC comics right now. Plus, writer Christy Marx promises that she’s going to bring a lot of awesome stuff to Gemworld in the near future, so readers should stick around.

WONDER WOMAN #13
More than any cliffhanger from DC’s issues before September’s Zero Month it was the one at the end of Wonder Woman #12 that had me begging for more the most. Heck, I was even able to wait an extra month to see the Joker come back in Snyder’s Batman, but the end of Wonder Woman #12 teased the introduction of a character I’d been really begging for in the DC New 52 for quite a while, and now it’s finally here.
Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang have opened a whole new can of worms as they go into their second year of Wonder Woman. Diana’s faced plenty of the Greek Gods and Godesses, but now it’s time for something… New.
RYLEY IS ALSO PICKING UP…
- AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LORD OF NIGHTMARES #5
- BATWOMAN #13
- CHEW #29
- DARK AVENGERS #182
- UNCANNY X-MEN #20

SAM’S PICKS

BATWOMAN #13
I was all set to drop this title, after a meandering second storyline. But then #12 came along, and I was instantly hooked back in. Batwoman’s mission against Medusa continues, and she needs some support if she’s going to successfully find the missing children. Who better than Wonder Woman, when taking on monsters from mythology?
With Williams back on art duties, this is set to be a wonderful read, as well as being wonderful to look at.

BLUE BEETLE #13
Jaime is a long way away from home. The Blue Beetle scarab however, is right back where it came from - the homeworld of the Reach! And that only spells bad news for the pair, as the Reach aren’t too happy with the defective scarab and host!

DAREDEVIL #19
Matt Murdock’s world is unraveling! His friendship and partnership with Foggy Nelson seems to have come to an end, after Foggy challenged Matt about his mental state, and threw him out of the Law firm!
This hasn’t stopped Matt from being Daredevil however, and coming across another strange case - but does he want to get to the bottom of it?

GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #13
Kyle Rayner’s quest begins! Along with Carol Ferris, he has discovered the fate of Hal Jordan and Sinestro - as well as his destiny to once against wield the emotional spectrum! Kyle is going to need to reassemble the New Guardians, as well as gather some fairly interesting teachers to help him on the way…

THE MIGHTY THOR #21
“Everything Burns”! The epic conclusion to this wonderful crossover, and well, things aren’t looking to great at the moment for Asgardia. In one desperate last move, Hela has granted Thor an army to take the battle to Surtur himself! The shocks are sure to continue, as everything comes crashing down!
SAM IS ALSO PICKING UP…
- 2000 AD PROG 1805
- JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE 329
- UNCANNY X-MEN #20
- WONDER WOMAN #13
