Comic Review: Daredevil #19

Is Matt Murdock out of his mind, or is it just another attack from a rogue? Coyote’s identity is revealed, Foggy lets something slip that could seriously hurt Matt, and let me just say that the cover for this issue doesn’t lie. It’s another exciting issue of Daredevil that no fan should miss!

——

Lately Matt’s been going through a lot, and it’s really a lot that makes him out to not exactly being mentally stable. Being that he’s fallen to the wayside before (see; Shadowland), it’s not out of character for Foggy, Matt’s partner and best friend, to be worried about his health — especially after he finds his fathers skull in Matt’s desk drawer. So, basically things just keep getting worse and worse for our hero, and he could possibly be getting into some legal trouble because of Foggy’s loose lips.

The identity of Coyote, who Marvel has teased to be the new villain behind Matt’s current problems, is finally revealed and it actually took me by surprise a bit, but I’m happy to say that it links to earlier points in this series history, so it’s not something that just comes out of left field all of a sudden. Mark Waid may have just recreated a classic C-Lister villain as a major rogue for Daredevil by utilizing an inspired superpower to it’s maximum potential, and by turning him a spot darker.

Chris Samnee continues to impress, and the reveal of the new villains identity gives Chris a lot of potential for awesome fight scenes in upcoming issues. There’s not much to say about his work in this issue that hasn’t already been said, but basically if you’ve enjoyed his work on previous issues you’ll find nothing but great work in this one.

Daredevil continues to be one of the best titles from Marvel right now, and I have no doubt that even through the launch of Marvel’s numerous new NOW titles it’ll remain in that spot.

GO Rating: 4/5
