Anime Review: Btooom! - 3

You want to get off the island? Fine. All you need to do is kill seven people.
——
I am going to let everyone know right off the bat that this episode was a bit too slow for my liking. I did enjoy it, but there just was not enough action going on in this episode of Btooom!, if you ask me.
We do get to meet a new character, who I don’t hate. He is an older guy named Taira. Sakamoto and Taira form an alliance and start to work together as soon as they encounter one other.

As I said, I like Taira. He isn’t a gamer, so he is not familiar with the game strategies, but he has his own ideas that I believe will help out this newly paired team survive. You do not need to just know how to play the game, but you also need to know how to work with and read other players.
There were two other characters who were shown briefly in this episode. I think that was a foreshadowing technique used to show us that the others who were also shown are skilled, and a threat to Taira, Sakamoto and everyone else on the island.
So this episode did have its purpose, build up towards an exciting episode (I hope).
We also find out about Sakamoto’s memory loss, how everyone got to the island, and who might be behind this live action game we call, BTOOOM!

Tyrannos JAPAN, the creators of the BTOOOM! video game, just so happen to be the guys behind the live survival game of BTOOOM!All I know is that the person behind this one must be seriously messed up if this is what he, or she, needs to do to be entertained.
To sum up this episode of BTOOOM!
- New character development
- Promising plot in future episodes
- Minimal blood and explosions
- We now know who is behind this game
I am a bit disappointed that the love story has yet to develop. As much of a fan I am of gore, I am still a lady with a soft spot for romance. That, and I want to see if having to kill complicates the blooming romance. Like, will Sakamoto and Himiko turn on one another? What if they don’t get enough chips from the others to leave the island? Things are going to get interesting, that is for sure.
Overall, not bad for a filler episode.
Go Rating: 3.5/5
