Anime Review: Little Busters! - 3

I’m getting OG Pokémon flashbacks. All Rin’s missing is the backwards cap and we’re in business!

Can’t say I like this anime right now. Some of that is probably because there’s real baseball going on and the NLCS is proving to be very entertaining. The other bit is that… well, it’s just not all that interesting at the moment. Like, what happened in this episode? Kurugaya joined the Little Busters, instantly becoming the most tolerable character in the show thus far. Other than that, it was more of the same. Masato is still there for poops and giggles. Kyousuke is just a different brand of dim, but still dumb. Riki still sounds a little too much like a girl. We saw a glimpse of a new girl named Haruka, but other than that, it was literally nothing new. And why would I look forward to that when the Giants and Cardinals are so much better?

I think the highlight of this show might actually be the BGM and music, something I don’t really pay attention to normally. I’ve already made my disapproval known about the voices, the story thus far, and the animation, so really, the music is the only thing I haven’t said anything about. I’m actually enjoying some of it more than what the characters are saying. I don’t particularly care for the OP/ED, but everything else is actually really nice. It’s only been three episodes and it’s already recognizable as the Little Busters! soundtrack. Calling it the ‘highlight’ at this point and compared to the other factors doesn’t mean that the sound production is remarkable, but I can’t hate everything about this show. Not yet anyway. I’ve got to pace myself through the other 23 episodes.

I’m on the wrong side of apathetic on this one. If I wasn’t already committed, I’d just wait for a few episodes and just catch up when it gets good. As it is, I’m going to pray that Little Busters! somehow clicks for me soon.
