George Lucas Says Luke, Leia And Han Are All Back For “Star Wars”

[via]
Bloomberg has posted an article on Disney’s recent purchase of Lucasfilm. What stands out from the article are some interesting words from George Lucas in relation to Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, aka Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, respectively.
More after the break.

Lucas said,
“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison – or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation – so I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
So, it seems as if Lucas has let the cat out of the bag, although it seemed pretty certain that the principal three characters from the original trilogy would return at some point.
I’d expect to hear a lot more about this in the next few weeks, with Disney possibly looking to clarify things and make an official statement.
At present, Star Wars: Episode VII is set for a 2015 release.
