Wii U May Support Only A Single Controller

After the interesting debut of the Wii U at E3, people were obviously very impressed with some of the capabilities that were able to be shown off by Nintendo. However, there was one odd exclusion from all the fancy trailers that were trotted out: Where’s the second controller? Apparently, there may not be any second controller support when it’s launched next year.

“Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system,” said Miyamoto. “If we got to an idea of having multiple, it might be just more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that. That being said, we are doing research about if someone brings their controller to their friend’s house and they want to play together on Wii U to whether or not something like that would be possible.”

We can take this in a few ways. One, no multiplayer with two Wii U pads. Two, you can save extra money because you can’t use another pad. Three, Nintendo wants us to spend even more money buying 3DS’s to use as an alternative. Sounds like Nintendo has some work to do…
