Fan Favorite ‘13 - First Round: Mabel Pines vs. Robin vs. Garrus Vakarian

They say that good things come in pairs, but while today’s featured contestants are one halves of notable relationships, they’re going to need to rely on themselves if they want to overcome their First Round geek match-up and beyond.

Older twin sister Mabel Pines has an abundance of energy and optimism to help annoy her way past anyone in the tournament. Ruthless and violent, Robin, the famous partner (among other things) of the Dark Knight, is skilfully capable of staying alive until the end. And while Garrus Vakarian is a bit of a protege to the Commander, his experiences in combat and warfare are invaluable as he tries to pave his own way to victory.

Which geek character will fly solo into the Sweet 16? Help decide by voting after the break!

“Batman & Robin,” “Green Lantern Corps,” “Green Lantern: New Guardians,” And “Superboy” Get The Annual Treatment

Given that it’s a five week month in January again, DC has announced some new annuals for their ongoing series. Batman & Robin, Green Lantern Corps, Green Lantern: New Guardians, and Superboy are all getting one-off issues to be released in the fifth week of January.

The Green Lantern titles will both tie into the Third Army event, whilst Superboy’s story will involve the H’El On Earth event that will be running through the Super Family books, leaving Batman & Robin as a one-off story.

Comics You Should Be Reading: Batman by Grant Morrison, Part 2

A few months back, I wrote up an article for the first part of Grant Morrison’s epic ongoing Batman story in which he breaks down Bruce Wayne until he comes to his “Death” towards the end of the Final Crisis. Now I’m writing the follow up to that article which will cover the second part of his epic story: Batman and Robin and the Return of Bruce Wayne series’.

As always I’ll break my review down like this:

  • Who writes and who does the art
  • What is it about
  • When was it published
  • Where can I find it
  • Why should I read it
  • How much will it cost

So read on to see my breakdown and review of the second part of Morrison’s Batman saga!

BREAKING NEWS: Paul Cornell to write for Batman and Robin, Tomasi and Gleason Delayed
In the past few months DC’s solicits have been telling us that the former team from theGreen Lantern Corps series, Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, would be taking overBatman and Robin after Morrison finishes his run with issue #16. However, just recently it’s been revealed that the plans have been changed
Action Comics and Knight and Squire scribe Paul Cornell will be handling a three part arc on the series before Tomasi and Gleason do their “Dark Knight, White Knight” story on the series. It seems that the teams duties on Brightest Day aren’t allowing them enough time to work on this series.
So, dear reader, how does this make you feel? Were you planning on picking up Tomasi and Gleasons run on the series? Were you not? Will you pick up issue #17 now that Cornell is attached to it? Do you even care? Of course you do!
