After issues around the packaging caused the set to be delayed, Marvel has now announced that their “Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One” Blu-ray collection will be yours to own on April 2, 2013.
Pre-orders for the collection are up and running once more, and apparently the delay has allowed Marvel to add an additional content to the set, with little teasers and previews of the next wave of films from “Phase Two.”
When asked about the previews, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was fairly vague, noting that they will include “footage, concept art, and a few new surprises.”
The “Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One” collection will retail from $219.00

“Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled” Preview
If you thought Marvel and their Avengers were done taking your money, you thought wrong, since the movie just surpassed the $600 million mark in domestic grossings. Marvel is set to release a special 10-disc, 6-film Blu-Ray collector’s set of all their movies released thus far.
In this trailer, a preview of the contents is included with a mash-up of footage from the various films, including short interviews with the series’ stars—though, it’s interesting to note that for The Incredible Hulk they show Kevin Feige rather than star Edward Norton.
More information is set to be released on July 15th with no official release date set. However, The Avengers Blu-Ray & DVD release is scheduled for September 28, which would at least indicate a probably release date for this set.
You can pre-order your set here at phase1avengersassembled.
The 10-Disc set is broken down as such:
- Marvel’s The Avengers - Blu-Ray & 3D Blu-Ray
- Captain America: The First Avenger - Blu-Ray & 3D Blu-Ray

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Community executive producers/directors Anthony & Joe Russo will be handling directing duties on the the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. Their only feature film credit is 2006’s You, Me & Dupree, so there’s nowhere to go but up for them.
What do you guys think? Is this cause for concern or celebration?

Official “Avengers” Cinematic Timeline
(Click through for a larger image)
Marvel unveiled its official timeline of events for its Avengers-related films. It models the timeline after Christianity’s calendar replacing Jesus at the center with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. Where as Christian calendars are broken up into B.C and A.D (Before Christ and Anno Domini) this Avengers timeline is broken up into BIM and AIM (Before Iron Man and After Iron Man).
The timeline chronicles all of the events depicted in the six films from starting with the Jotunehim invasion of Midgard/Earth all the way up to when Avengers assemble.
Of note is the exclusion of Aang Lee’s Hulk clarifying for fans whether or not Louis Letterier’s The Incredible Hulk was a direct sequel or not.

It’s been awhile since I last did a Flash Friday review, and what better way to bring it back than reviewing a series of films leading up to one of the year’s biggest releases, The Avengers.
With a movie that was years in the making — five separate installments building up to it — let’s take a look back at each of those film’s starting with 2008’s Iron Man after the break.

In celebration of the One Year anniversary of Population GO, here are my Top Ten Films from September 6th, 2010 to September 6th, 2011.
(Just so you all know, it’s killing me inside to not be able to add Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Kick-Ass, which were released prior to September 6th in 2010.)
1. The Social Network (2010)

This was neck and neck with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World for my favourite movie of 2010 — and for good reason. I was completely blown away with the film David Fincher brought with the story behind the creation of Facebook. Is it a skewed telling of the actual story? Most definitely. But nonetheless, it was an intense film from the get go, really helping sell Jesse Eisenberg as an actor who is more than a Michael Cera clone. A truly great performance by him.

Well, here it is. The final big comic movie of the summer (Cowboys and Aliens is next week, but it’s hardly a big comic, so bear with me). We’ve had a pretty good crop of comic movies from Thor to X-Men, to the underwhelming Green Lantern film, but with Captain America, it sure looks like the summer will go off on a good foot.
This one is personally my most anticipated film of the season, and since the first trailer was released I was almost completely sure this one would be the best of the summer, not only as a comic movie, but as a fantastic film altogether.
So I went out to see the midnight release with my shield in hand (I do own a full size replica), and all my hopes were high, but were my hopes and thoughts well founded in this film, or did Cap fail me?
Read on to see how I felt about Captain America!

New Captain America TV Spot Reveals His Modern-Day Discovery
“The latest television spot for Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger begins with a glimpse of the scene many fans have been waiting for since at least 2008, when they glimpsed an icy Easter egg on The Incredible Hulk DVD: the discovery of a frozen Steve Rogers in the present day. The 30-second commercial doesn’t give it all away, be it at least shows the setup, with a parka-clad team entering a large object — an airplane? a submarine? — to stumble upon a snow-covered shield.”
[Spinoff]
From what the TV spot shows, it looks like Cap’s discovery is done extremely well. I’m slightly surprised that Marvel decided to reveal this in a TV spot, though - it would have had far more impact if it came at the end of the film and you weren’t entirely expecting it.
New Captain America: The First Avenger Trailer
“Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures have premiered what’s likely the final theatrical trailer for “Captain America: The First Avenger,” director Joe Johnston’s highly anticipated comic-book adaptation.
Clocking in at two minutes and 30 seconds, the new trailer balances humor and action while clearly laying out the origin of Captain America and the threat he’s facing — namely, the Nazis‘ deep-science division HYDRA, led by Johann Schmidt (AKA the Red Skull). There are plenty of explosions, and even a little shield-throwing, tossed in for good measure.
Set during World War II, the early days of the Marvel Universe, the film follows Chris Evans as the frail Steve Rogers as he volunteers to participate in an experimental program that transforms him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As the costumed Sentinel of Liberty, Rogers joins Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) and the forces of HYDRA.”
[CBR]
I’m pretty excited for this film, which should feel unique due to its setting. I’m hoping that it’s not overly patriotic, though, since that could be a real turn off for some people.
There’s some high quality screen captures from the trailer at the source, too.
New Captain America: The First Avenger TV Spot
As expected, there isn’t that much new footage included, but this TV spot is quite action-packed and we do get to hear the Red Skull speak for the first time.
