Previously, in Wolverine and the X-Men: The Jean Grey School has now been open for a few months, and has seen students graduate, such as Angel, and new students join, such as the time displaced original X-Men. Faculty members have also changed, with Husk leaving the school, and Kitty Pryde stepping down as headmistress in place of Storm. One thing remains constant despite the changes that the school has endured – this is the school where students and faculty will be the best there is at what they do.
However, the school has faced its share of threats as well. The Hellfire Club has targeted the school numerous times, going so far as to brainwash certain members of the student body, and attempt to recruit others to their own cause. They have also been assembling their own villainous faculty including Sauron, and have welcomed Glob Herman from the Jean Grey School into their new Hellfire Academy.

Previously, in Constantine: John Constantine knows that using magic always comes at a price – hence why he tries to avoid actually casting spells as much as possible, relying on his wits and sharp talking to try and defuse situations first. He currently finds himself on the trail of Croydon’s Compass, an artifact of immense magical power which must not fall into the hands of the Cult of the Cold Flame. John tracks the first piece to Norway, but loses his friend Chris to Sargon the Sorceress when her dark magics tear Chris apart.
John then travels to South America, only to run afoul of Mister E. on his quest to find the second part of the Compass. John just barely escapes, before finding himself face to face with the Spectre – who informs John that Heaven is watching him very closely, and they need him to do the dirty jobs that they can’t do themselves. Constantine tracks the last piece of the Compass to London, but it seems that Sargon, Mister E., and the other members of the Cold Flame are lying in wait.

Previously, in Batman: The return of the Joker and the relentless assault of Talia Al Ghul’s Leviathan organization has damaged Batman’s relationship with his allies almost beyond repair. Retreating into himself after the death of his son Damian, Batman feels the need to tackle all of his problems alone. This includes trying to find out who has been committing robberies in the guise of Bruce Wayne – obviously, it is not him. Batman deduces that the culprit is Clayface, but when he confronts the villain, Clayface attempts to choke him to death.
And in our back-up story, Batman reluctantly accepts Superman’s aid when a mysterious light is seen inside a tenement building, alongside reports that numerous people have entered the building and not been seen or heard from again. Superman’s enhanced senses allow the duo to track down a survivor, who tells them that ‘it’ won’t let them leave. Concealed on the ceiling is a monstrous supernatural beast – which renders Superman’s advantages moot.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: David Haller is tired of the X-Men’s reactive approach to superheroics, and takes it upon himself to try and stop threats to the mutant race before they even get onto the X-Men’s radar. This includes a mutant hating cult, which David has imprisoned upon the SWORD base, and lobotomizing Aarkus, a creature living on the surface of the Moon who was out to murder all mutants. David’s new approach hasn’t been met with happiness from his almost-girlfriend Ruth, the mutant known as Blindfold.
The catalyst for David’s current mission was the death of his father, Professor Xavier. Xavier’s body was interred at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, but was soon stolen by the agents of the insidious Red Skull, who stole Xavier’s brain and implanted it in his own skull, granting him Xavier’s enormous telepathic powers. The Uncanny Avengers were able to stop the Skull for now, but he escaped, taking the brain of the most powerful telepath on Earth with him.

Also, he has begun hearing voices, and has on more than one occasion lost control of his limbs at the most inopportune moments.
