Lara Croft hit hard times as Eidos slowly fell over the past several years. While the series continued to produce modest hits, Lara’s name became barely relevant and she was demoted to the B-list of gaming. But Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics had a plan to reboot the franchise and find ourselves a new hero built on the foundations of the old pin-up action star.
Tomb Raider is a monumental step forward for action gaming. With a well-polished adventure that refreshingly stars an empowered woman who kicks ass, Lara is back and is better than ever before.

Square Enix revealed the contents for the Collector’s Edition for next year’s Tomb Raider release. Fans will be pleased to learn that the reasonably priced package will include their own Lara Croft to enjoy when they aren’t playing the upcoming game.

Revealed earlier today on their Facebook page, Crystal Dynamics’ new reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise is banking heavy on the more vulnerable side of the young Lara on the final box art for next year’s release.
I was able to demo the game at PAX Prime this year and, let me say, fans of third-person action games, like Uncharted, should keep a very close on the new Lara.
Tomb Raider is slated for release March 5, 2013, on PS3, 360, and PC.

For the first time, gamers have been a good look at the new reboot of Lara Croft. At the Microsoft press conference, developer Crystal Dynamics showed off a significant chunk of action while Lara attempts to save her friend from the hands of the mercenaries.
