Superman Takes Flight In New “Man of Steel” Banner
The promotional team over at Warner Bros. really must have taken notice of the success of Iron Man 3 lately, having really sprung into action over the last week.
Following up from the two new TV spots, banner and poster is another banner for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and once again the elegance of this image is in its simplicity.
Man of Steel opens June 14.

New Banner For “Man of Steel”
Warner Bros. has released a new banner for Man of Steel, showing off Henry Cavill as the man himself, as well as some lovely cape work.
I really like this banner, actually, with the simplicity of the image being what makes it striking in my opinion.
I certainly prefer it to the poster released last week.

8 New Screenshots For “Batman: Arkham Origins” Released

After the announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins, fans of the gaming series have been curious to see just how Warner Bros. Games Montreal will handle the game, since Rocksteady Studios are no longer the team behind the game.

Today has seen a flurry of 8 screenshots released, giving us a good look at Deathstroke and the Black Mask, alongside Batman on a snowy Christmas Eve in Gotham.

The screenshots have also been accompanied with the news that Kevin Conroy will not be voicing Batman, as Warner Bros. Games Montreal wants “to use a new younger actor because the game features Batman in his early years.”

To check out the rest of the screenshots, check out the source.

Batman: Arkham Origins is currently slated for an October 25, 2013 release.

Geek Spotlight: The Dos and Don’ts of Comic Collecting

image

Starting a new hobby is always daunting. You want to get into something new, and yet it’s a big, scary world full of new rules and things to learn, and you don’t want to screw it up, right? Comic book collecting is like that to a terrifying degree.

The rich continuity, vast amounts of characters, and numerous reboots and retcons make everything confusing enough to follow without having to worry about when issues are released, or what titles showcase which characters, or which of the fifteen thousand Batman books appeals to you.

I’ve compiled a list here of my top 5 Comic Collecting Dos and Don’ts which should help new readers break in a little easier and experience the rich world of comics, and maybe even give existing readers a fresh outlook on their hobby.

Top 5: Decisions DC Comics Have Got… Right?

image

I understand that at the moment, some of the folks over at DC Comics are not on anybody’s Christmas card list. Understandable too, what with the recent creative team shambles with Andy Diggle on Action Comics, and Josh Fialkov quitting both Green Lantern Corps and Red Lanterns.

Oh, and if we go back a bit further, there was the decision to hand the creative reins to Orson Scott Card on a digital-first Superman comic, and of course, the unceremonious firing, and then rehiring of Gail Simone on Batgirl.

But are DC Comics the evil corporation everyone paints them out to be? Ever since the New 52 launched back in September 2011, have they done nothing but prey on the weak and fearful, ruining our favourite childhood characters and sucking all the joy out of our comic reading experience?

Well, no actually. Hit the break as I celebrate my favourite 5 things which have come out the New 52!

DC Creative Kerfuffle Causes Abrupt Changes

image

It’s no secret that comic companies and their creators don’t always see eye to eye, but it seems that all is not well at DC Comics, as not one but two creators have left the titles they were meant to be writing before their first issues have even hit the stands.

How To Make Your Own Batarangs

I’m sure that many of you, whether you are Batman fans or not, have always thought it would be cool to have your own set of batarangs. Well, thanks to this handy little video walkthrough, you can now make them!

So long as you have a fully equipped blacksmith shop, and are trained to use the heavy machinery of course, but details.

Watch the video above to see Tony Swatton, the man behind the “Man At Arms” web-series create the batarangs. As you would expect, they are pretty darn lethal.

“Blackest Night” DLC Announced For “Injustice: Gods Among Us”

Another day, another pre-order DLC announced for Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The latest DLC pack is based around the 2009-10 DC Comics event, “Blackest Night,” which saw a mysterious new Lantern Corps resurrect deceased heroes and villains in order eliminate life and emotion in the universe.

The above trailer shows off the skin for Blackest Lantern Batman, and a Zombie mode, which one would imagine would play similarly to the Zombie mode previously seen on NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat.

In order to get free access to this DLC pack, if you are in the US then head over to Best Buy and preorder Injustice: Gods Among Us. For everyone else — y’all are stuck for time being.

Previously announced pre-order DLC is the “Red Son” pack from Gamestop, and the “Arkham City” skin pack from Wal Mart.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hits shelves April 16.

‘I Like The Way You Fly, Boy’: DC Announces “Superman Unchained”

image

Yeah, the Django jokes are everywhere right now, but Scott Snyder and Jim Lee’s upcoming Superman book finally has an official title and release date.

Though it’s been oft rumored to be named Man of Steel, due to the upcoming movie, it will be called Superman Unchained, and it will be unleashed to the comics world on June 12th and will feature backup features by Snyder and Dustin Nguyen (Li’l Gotham).

DC, you had my curiosity. But now you have my attention.

Can I get one more Django joke in here before the end of the article?

… I’m positive I’ll be buying this comic.
