The DCnU’s Mysterious Hooded Woman Is Named

“Her name is Pandora.”

That’s all we got from the blog update from DC Universe: The Source.

For those who don’t know or remember, Pandora was the woman who was present in the double page spread from Flashpoint in which the DCnU was “born”, and then she appeared in the background of each first issue of the New 52. Chances are that Pandora is going to be an important part of the DCnU as we move forward, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her as a driving force behind the next DC event.

Rambling About Comics: DCnU - First Month in Review

Last month was the beginning of an era with DC’s release of 52 brand new titles which effectively relaunched franchises and made great starting points for new readers.

Was it successful or did it flop?

Read on to see our ten picks for the DCnU, and to see if we think DC’s new initiative was a good idea!

Pérez Off “Superman” Writing Duties, Giffen and Jurgens On

Newsarama is reporting that as of Superman #7, George Pérez will be off writing and breakdown duties, and will be replaced by the new Green Arrow creative team - Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens.

Whether or not Pérez has left the title entirely is still in question however, as he may remain on inking duties, which he also currently handles on Green Arrow.

Retailer Boycotts “Action Comics” Over Alleged Blasphemy

Erm, a bit of a strange one here.

Jeff Lamb, owner of The Comic Conspiracy in North Carolina, has declared that he will be boycotting all Grant Morrison comics over perceived blasphemy in Action Comics #1.

Through a series of statements on the store’s Facebook page, Lamb proclaimed that his store will not sell a single copy of Action Comics #1, and outlined his reasons behind the Grant Morrison boycott:

“Action Comics #1 is a slap in the face to Superman, Christians and Superman creators Siegel and Shuster!!”

Further details are below.

DC Comics - The New 52 Begins Tomorrow!

Or for those of you fortunate enough, it all begins tonight with the midnight release of Flashpoint #5 and Justice League #1.

With the fateful day almost upon us, hype is building up even more, with various news outlets still releasing exclusive previews and further interviews.

DC has continued to tease the New 52, releasing the following panel from Justice League #1:

“Maybe this is all connected to that guy in Metropolis.”
— Green Lantern in Justice League #1

For full comprehensive coverage, check out DC’s official blog.

Of course, we’ll cover the New 52 here too, where alongside ryley-stbatman I’ll participate in a weekly segment during the first wave of new releases, discussing the new #1s and sharing our thoughts on the relaunch.

Also, don’t forget to check out ryley-stbatman’s Spotlight, where he details his top 10 picks for the New 52!

The Justice Society Lives On In The DCnU

Many fans have been upset by the lack of a JSA in the new DC books, but it seems that this problem is about to be remedied as it’s been announced that the Justice Society of America, as well as Earth-2, will be returning to DC.

The team will reside on Earth-2, meaning it will be away from everything happening in the main DCU, and also meaning that the team will be back on the Earth they originally came from before the Crisis on Infinite Earth’s event happened.

James Robinson (Starman, Justice League of America) will be writing the series with Nicola Scott (Teen Titans) on the pencils. As of yet we don’t know who the team will consist of but we can count on learning that pretty soon.

Geek Spotlight: DC’s New 52 - What’s Worth Your Buck?

So in less than two weeks, the big DC Comics relaunch is finally going to be here. Whether you’re excited by it or completely hate the idea, it’s something that we’ve all heard a lot about. With 52 new books all launching in the same month, it can be a little intimidating, so I’m going to offer my opinions on which of these new books I think will be worth it, and why. Of course, this is biased towards which characters and creators I prefer, so it’s not to say that the books I don’t mention are entirely not worth your time or money.

So here are my picks for the top 10 books (in alphabetical order, and that I’m definitely grabbing) to look at in the DCnU (as it’s been dubbed), and then five more that pique my interest.
