Geek Spotlight: Transformers Masterpiece

image

When it comes toys and action figures, catching a character’s likeness is the biggest expectation. Over the years, poseability became a rising factor as well. There’s nothing worse than a toy that doesn’t look like your favorite character and can’t pose suitably. Transformers figures have the difficult task of representing a character through both its robot mode and alternate mode. Majority of the time, the figures leave much to be desired with only one mode that excels over the other.

In an attempt to faithfully recreate our beloved characters from the original Generation 1 (G1) Transformers, the folks at TakaraTomy and Hasbro have introduced the Masterpiece line. Designers have been hard-pressed to produce models that exhibit highly detailed modes to please fans. However, with today’s advanced engineering techniques, they’ve successfully done so.

KRE-O “Star Trek” Teaser Trailer And Image

Hasbro has released this teaser trailer for the upcoming KRE-O Star Trek digital short which will be produced by Bad Robot. Their lego-like toy line KRE-O has recently acquired the Star Trek license.

The trailer itself is a near shot-for-shot recreation of the teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ 2009 reboot of the franchise, with the obvious difference being that they use the KRE-O blocks. The company will be premiering the playsets at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, but in the mean time below is the teaser image for their version of the NC-1701 U.S.S Enterprise.

Toy Review: Perfect Effect Scouting Force X

I’ve been eyeing this third party Transformer since its prototype stage, and I received the final product last week. Renamed Edge, Shield, and Bullet, this is Perfect Effect’s faithful reproduction of “Reflector,” the reconnaissance trio from the Transformers (of G1 continuity).

Toy Review: FansProject TFX-04 “Protector”

In this review, I’ll be going over the third party add on, TFX-04 “Protector” by FansProject. This particular add on is meant to be used with Rodimus from the Classics line by Hasbro (released in 2006), or the Henkei! Henkei! Rodimus by TakaraTomy (Japanese TF line released in 2008).

For those not in the know, FansProject has become a household name in the last few years to Transformers collectors. They are a small group of customizers who came together to provide high quality accessories to the toy line. Their motto is “For Fans, By Fans.”

Read on to get a glimpse of the awesome that is FansProject.
