New Teasers For “Age of Ultron” Suggest Major Roles For Red Hulk And Black Widow
Marvel has released a couple of teaser images for their upcoming event mini-series, “Age of Ultron,” featuring the Red Hulk and Black Widow.
Written by long-time Avengers scribe Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Brian Hitch, “Age of Ultron” was initially teased at the start of the “Heroic Age,” in the first story-arc on the relaunch Avengers title by Bendis.
According to series editor Tom Brevoort, “Age of Ultron” is going to be another Universe-wide event which sweeps across all the Marvel NOW! titles, whilst promising:
“It’s also a team of world-class creators telling an epic saga of sweeping scale! And people are going to absolutely plotz when they get to the final pages of the final issue — guaranteed!”
As usual, the talk sounds good, but after Avengers Vs. X-Men, it seems a bit soon for another shake-up of the Marvel Universe. Saying that however, I do like Ultron, so this does sound pretty good.

Not too long ago, Marvel gave us a teaser for an upcoming series of theirs, and today we know that the “Birth” teaser was referencing none other than the Mad Titan himself, Thanos.

Last week, we got a teaser from Marvel in the form of their typical NOW! teases for a new X-Men book by Brian Wood and Olivier that simply read “XX” with a double-helix design in the background. We now know that this book is indeed an all-female X-Team, like many fans had guessed.
More after the break!

Note: This review contains spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man #698-700, and Superior Spider-Man #1.
Previously…: In a last ditch effort to triumph over his nemesis, Doctor Octopus used his sinister technology to transfer his mind into Peter Parker’s body, essentially making himself Spider-Man. Peter’s mind was trapped in Ock’s failing body, and despite his best efforts, Peter was unable to regain his true body before he perished in Ock’s withered form.
Before his death, Peter used the link between his and Ock’s mind to show Ock everything that Peter had lived through, and how his life was shaped. Finally realizing exactly what Peter had been through, Ock vowed to be the Spider-Man that Peter would want him to be. But that doesn’t mean he’s going to follow Peter’s footsteps exactly. He’s going to do it better –- he will be a Superior Spider-Man.

In what is assumed to be the final batch of Marvel NOW! teasers, Marvel has announced that writer Brian Wood and artist Olivier Coipel will be teaming up for what appears to be an X-Men-related series with this new XX teaser.
Wood had a critically acclaimed run on the adjective-less X-Men title, which is coming to a close with issue #41 fairly soon, so whether this is a relaunch of that title or something slightly different remains to be seen.
Confirmation will be this time next week, if past patterns repeat.

Well. That’s an interesting one. In an odd teaser for a Marvel NOW! title beginning in March, Marvel has announced the return of Paul Cornell, a writer who has been at DC for the past few years.
He will be joined by superstar artist Alan Davis on a new title, but given that Wolverine has his own Marvel NOW! title, Daken is currently evil, and X-23 is involved in Avengers Arena, the premise behind the book is a bit of a mystery for now.

The truth behind Marvel’s “Fearless” teaser last week has been revealed, with writer Cullen Bunn and artist Will Sliney teaming up on The Fearless Defenders.
This title would pick up on plot threads from Bunn’s Fear Itself: The Fearless mini-series, as Valkyrie travels the Marvel Universe recruiting a new squad of Valkyrior from Midgard’s formidable females. Misty Knight has been revealed as one member, but Bunn states that the entire team will not be formed even by the end of the first arc.
The Fearless Defenders #1 hits stores in February.

Despite the news that All-New X-Men will be the flagship X-book for Marvel NOW!, it seems that Uncanny X-Men will be making a return anyway, helmed by writer Brian Bendis (who is also writing All-New X-Men) and artist Chris Bachalo, fresh off of his run on Wolverine and the X-Men.
