Summer blockbusters are typically the tentpole films you go to see regardless, but it always helps to have trailers that justify your excitement. Now this summer features a new crop of tentpole films, from various studios, all vying for your valuable dollars and attendance. While the higher profile films are from returning franchises or potential new ones, the best way for these studios to draw you in is through trailers.
This list highlights my top five film trailers for the summer season. These aren’t just the trailers for films that I’m anticipating, but also the trailers that I found achieved their objective of both entertaining and enticing audiences.
Hit the break to check out which trailers I picked.

KyoAni Announces ”Free!”, The TV Adaptation Of The Swimming Anime; Anti-moe Fans Rejoice
Earlier today 10:00 p.m. JST, Kyoto Animation unveiled their next anime to be Free!, an adaption of the swimming anime PV which aroused great interest last month. The new anime is set to air in July.
The swimming anime PV was created to commemorate Animation DO’s latest then-unannounced project, but there was no confirmation if swimming animeitself had anything to do with the new project. And since Kyoto Animation have done stand-alone PV’s plenty of other times, it really could have been unrelated.

Real Action Hero Hatsune Miku
Hatsune Miku fans have something big to look forward to next year! It looks like Miku will be next up to join the RAH family.
Though Miku is beautifully sculpted and comes with a several different hands, it looks like she will only have one face plate and a keyboard as her only accessory. Just think of her as an onee-san to all your other figures since she will tower over them standing at 30cm tall.
Miku will cost about ¥23,900, but fans will have plenty of time to save, since she is not due to be released till January 23, 2014.

“Shin Megami Tensei IV” Teases One Epic JRPG Adventure
Atlus has had great success with the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona franchises among hardcore RPG gamers. This coming July, Atlus is hoping to recapture the same success found with Persona 4: Golden in the 3DS’ next big JRPG: Shin Megami Tensei IV.
The teaser hints at big things to come, placing the outcome of a world in gamers’ hands. The trailer lacks combat, but I suspect that we’ll see much more of Shin Megami Tensei IV very soon.

Two More Character Posters For “Red 2”
Following the debuts of character posters for Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) and Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich) come these two new ones.
Focusing on the characters of Miranda Wood and Victoria, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Helen Mirren respectively, the posters once again highlight the film’s stars in everyday poses with contrasting backgrounds. Jones enjoys a glass of champagne (presumably) while relaxing on a couch with an assault rifle by her side. Mirren on the other hand casually removes her gloves after taking out a bunch of spooks.
Red 2 is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) and also stars Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Byung-hun Lee, Neal McDonagh and David Thewlis with a release set for July 19th.
