Games of the Week: Sometimes inFamy Is Good

[via]

inFamous 2 (PS3): Cole MacGrath returns as both the hero and the goat in Sucker Punch’s second installment. Choice between good and evil was key in the first title and will continue to be in the second. The explosive action and sense of power will propel this game into its hugely successful launch.

Red Faction: Armageddon (PS3, 360, PC): The follow up to the stellar Guerrilla, this trip to Mars is a little different than the last. Instead of another open world title, we get a linear shooter. Armageddon looks interesting but this is one of those titles that has a lot of question marks facing its release.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River (PS3, 360): The badly underrated Dragon Rising introduced many people to this franchise’s realistic combat scenarios. Fans of Rainbow Six will get a real kick out of this one.

3D Classics: Excitebike (3DS): The first of the 3D remakes of classic games. Remember 3DS owners, it’s free until the end of July!

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters (PS3, 360, Wii, 3DS, DS): Another movie tie-in game. Doesn’t look terrible but movie games rarely impress.

Other Games and DLC:

  • Homefront - Fire Sale (PS3, 360, PC)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops - Escalation (PS3, PC)
  • Pokédex 3D (3DS)

Games of the Week: It’s Spore-ific

Darkspore (PC): The only truly noteworthy title of the week is on the PC. This action-RPG extends the franchise while adding four-player coop, PVP, and huge customization, which appears to be the main draw for fans. Betcha it’ll take less than five minutes for phallic monsters to starting being made.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River (PC): The follow-up to the solid Dragon Rising entry, this strategic squad-based shooter looks to up the realism while pushing more action. Thumb calluses wouldn’t qualify as “wounded in action”, right?

Other Notables:

  • Man vs Wild (PS3, 360, Wii): His name is Bear so I guess that makes him extreme?
