Film Review: Oz The Great and Powerful

“Good work, you just sneezed away the plan.”

Oz The Great and Powerful seemed to be one of the more interesting films on the 2013 release schedule. Part of me cringed at the notion of it turning into another Alice in Wonderland style-over-substance fiasco. But another part of me believed that with Sam Raimi behind the camera, this could be a good film, and a nice companion piece to the classic 1939 The Wizard of Oz.

Final “Oz the Great and Powerful” Trailer

With the movie’s release set for next week, the film has dropped its fourth trailer.

While only being about a minute long, the trailer does offer some new footage and gives a further glimpse into the world of Oz coming from Sam Raimi and Disney.

Oz the Great and Powerful stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Rachel Weisz and is set for nationwide release next Friday.

First Teaser Poster For Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great And Powerful” Disney has just released this teaser poster for their upcoming prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Directed by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man), the movie tells the tale of a circus magician (played by James Franco) who finds himself transported to the world of Oz where he stumbles upon battle between the three witches Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams). The movie is set for a March 8th, 2013 release and Disney will be promoting the movie at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. [Collider]

New Trailer For “The Bourne Legacy” (2012)

Universal has released the latest trailer for their upcoming sequel/reboot of the Bourne franchise. Based on the best selling espionage book series, Legacy is an original story about a new hero, whose life-or-death stakes become triggered by the events of the original trilogy, and is played by Jeremy Renner.

Renner leads a new cast that includes Rachel Weisz, Ed Norton, Oscar Isaac and Stacy Keach while veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn and David Strathairn reprise their roles from the previous trilogy. 

The Legacy continues on August 3rd.
