Previously, in Constantine: John Constantine knows that using magic always comes at a price – hence why he tries to avoid actually casting spells as much as possible, relying on his wits and sharp talking to try and defuse situations first. He currently finds himself on the trail of Croydon’s Compass, an artifact of immense magical power which must not fall into the hands of the Cult of the Cold Flame. John tracks the first piece to Norway, but loses his friend Chris to Sargon the Sorceress when her dark magics tear Chris apart.
John then travels to South America, only to run afoul of Mister E. on his quest to find the second part of the Compass. John just barely escapes, before finding himself face to face with the Spectre – who informs John that Heaven is watching him very closely, and they need him to do the dirty jobs that they can’t do themselves. Constantine tracks the last piece of the Compass to London, but it seems that Sargon, Mister E., and the other members of the Cold Flame are lying in wait.

Previously, in Constantine: Alerted by his apparently psychic friend Chris that the Cult of the Cold Flame was after the magical Croydon’s Compass, Constantine set off across the world to try and collect the pieces of the Compass before the Cold Flame did. Before being able to celebrate however, Constantine and Chris were attacked by Sargon the Sorceress, the descendant of one of the original Cold Flame leaders. Alongside Tannarak, Zatara, and Mister E, Sargon was corrupted by his use of magic and became twisted by evil. In order to escape from Sargon’s daughter, Constantine sacrifices Chris and flees Norway with the first part of the Compass.

They trapped Necro in Hell, and went their separate ways.
