The Search For The New “Star Wars” Director Is Down To A Few Candidates

The Internet has been abuzz over the last few weeks with what a new Star Wars movie will entail; what direction the story take, what characters will be involved, who will be cast and who will direct, etc. In the last week or so, first we had Steven Spielberg, Zack Snyder and Quentin Tarantino rule themselves out, then J.J. Carrie Fisher Confirms She Would Be Interested In “Star Wars: Episode VII”

Hot on the heels of Mark Hamill discussing his possible involvement in a new Star Wars film, and Harrison Ford reportedly being open to returning as Han Solo, it was only going to be a matter of time before somebody spoke to Carrie Fisher.

Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, was accosted by TMZ (who else) at LAX yesterday. She was asked if she would be interested in reprising her role for the new Star Wars installment, lined up for 2015. Fisher’s response was an abrupt, decisive, “Yes. Sure. Wouldn’t you?”

If the next film was indeed set up as Episode VII, following on from Return of the Jedi, then it’d be pretty impossible to not have a much older Princess Leia involved. With Fisher now at the age of 56, she’d be ideal for such a role.

Whilst the talk then was of how will Anakin Skywalker embrace the Dark Side and his future as Darth Vader, talk at the moment is focusing on the sale of Lucasfilm and what it means for the Star Wars franchise going forward.

Hit the break for more details.
