Previously, in X-Men Legacy: David Haller is tired of the X-Men’s reactive approach to superheroics, and takes it upon himself to try and stop threats to the mutant race before they even get onto the X-Men’s radar. This includes a mutant hating cult, which David has imprisoned upon the SWORD base, and lobotomizing Aarkus, a creature living on the surface of the Moon who was out to murder all mutants. David’s new approach hasn’t been met with happiness from his almost-girlfriend Ruth, the mutant known as Blindfold.
The catalyst for David’s current mission was the death of his father, Professor Xavier. Xavier’s body was interred at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, but was soon stolen by the agents of the insidious Red Skull, who stole Xavier’s brain and implanted it in his own skull, granting him Xavier’s enormous telepathic powers. The Uncanny Avengers were able to stop the Skull for now, but he escaped, taking the brain of the most powerful telepath on Earth with him.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: The combined effort of David and Ruth was enough to defeat Ruth’s insane brother Luca, whose interference with Ruth’s powers have lead to her odd speech patterns and lack of control of her mutant abilities. The experience allowed David and Ruth to grow closer together, and a budding relationship has blossomed. Bolstered by Ruth’s faith in him, David’s control over his mental powers grows – even more reason for him to enjoy her company.
David has decided that he will no longer be reactive towards the threats that the mutant world faces, and instead will seek out problems before they reach the X-Men’s radar and nip them in the bud. This has lead to him infiltrating a mutant hating cult, as well as dealing with a mutant whose power involves taking credit for everything, even if it’s not his fault. Alongside this new quest, David has taken to trying to woo Ruth with psychic dates, and seems to be making progress.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: David Haller is tired of being known as Legion, and has decided to break away from everyone who knows him as such. Leaving the Jean Grey School and Cyclops’ mutant revolution to their own devices, David strikes out on his own to try and be more proactive against mutant threats. His first port of call is a mutant hating cult; David infiltrates them and his misadventures cause most of the cult’s members to be imprisoned by Agent Brand of SWORD.
But all of this is secondary to David’s primary aim – he has retrieved a book of prophecies written by Blindfold’s brother Luca, using the powers he tore from Ruth as he was being electrocuted on Death Row. Blindfold is unaware of David’s true motive, but it appears that the pair are falling slowly in love.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: The mysterious eyeballs that manipulated David into rescuing a pair of mutant twins was revealed to be Blindfold’s psychotic brother Luca, who stole half of her mutant powers and caused her odd personality and lack of control over her abilities. Luca used the twins to attempt to murder Blindfold, but David’s interference stopped his scheme from succeeding, though it did cause the death of one of the twins.
David and Blindfold explained the situation, and Wolverine allowed David to leave the Jean Grey School without further incident. The battle and its effects on those around him have shaped David’s new mission in life – he is going to try and be proactive against mutant threats, as opposed to the reactive approach that the Jean Grey School and Cyclops’ revolution have taken. And inside his mind, David is confronted by one of his personalities, who appears to be a sinister, twisted version of his dead father, Professor Charles Xavier.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: The death of Professor Xavier has distorted Legion’s control over his errant personalities, allowing one particularly sinister one to begin plotting against David. In the outside world, David rescues two mutant twins from the Japanese Yakuza, and gives them over to the X-Men at Wolverine’s school to look after them. A mysterious pair of floating eyeballs also manipulates David, but their motives remain unclear.
The mutant student Blindfold travels into Legion’s mind and manages to sooth his fractured psyche with ease, but puts herself in a coma as a result. David travels into her subconscious to try and discover the reason behind her mutant powers and their incomplete nature. It is revealed that Luca, her brother, had torn half of them from her mind on death row, and is now the floating pair of eyeballs that is haunting David, and secretly twisting the twins David rescued for his own ends – namely, killing Blindfold.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: The death of Professor Xavier has shattered Legion’s fine control over his multiple personalities and the superpowers that they allow him to manifest, but he is slowly regaining authority in his mindscape. As well as this, he is slowly coming to terms with Xavier’s death and where he now stands on Xavier’s dream and whether to follow his father’s legacy.
But Legion’s journey of self-discovery is wrought with danger. After defeating the X-Men, Legion places two mutant children in their care. Unfortunately, one of them has been possessed by an enigmatic pair of floating eyeballs that aided Legion previously, but seems to have a hidden agenda all its own. Plus, one of Legion’s more devastating personalities is running rampant throughout his mindscape, completely unchecked. The only ally Legion has potentially made so far is Blindfold, whose presence in his mind was able to restore order for a fraction of a second before being forced out and sent into a coma.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: With the death of Professor Xavier, Legion’s fragile control over his numerous personalities was shattered, and he now fights an internal battle to keep them under lock and key. As a result, the X-Men have set out to track down Legion.
Legion finds himself in Japan, and goes to the aid of two mutant twins who exhibit powerful psychic talents. David saves them from the Yakuza, and explains to them that their lives are of their own choosing, and that they could have a place at Wolverine’s school if they wished. They agree. But as soon as their decision is made, Wolverine and his X-Men arrive to apprehend Legion.

Previously, in X-Men Legacy: Psychic backlash from the death of Professor Xavier has shattered the tentative control that Legion possessed over his many personalities and their mutant powers. Legion is slowly regaining control, one personality at a time, but there are some more unruly ones that are looking to take over Legion’s body, or better yet, escape into the real world. This has happened before, and Legion will stop at nothing to prevent it from happening again.
However, in the interim between Xavier’s death and Legion wresting control of himself back from the inhabitants of his mind, they were able to wreck havoc with his body and cause multiple international incidents. The next Marvel NOW! teaser has been confirmed, with Simon Spurrier and Tan Eng Huat taking control of a relaunched X-Men Legacy as part of the line-wide relaunch.
Spurrier spoke today about the title and its new starring character, Legion, taking over from the previous run’s main character, Rogue. The son of Professor Xavier and an Omega class mutant, Legion’s multiple personalities and wide array of powers have often resulted in terrible consequences for the world, not least of which include the Age of Apocalypse, and more recently the Age of X. This series will focus on his attempts at recovery and coping with his powers.
