It’s the tragic aftermath of Damian Wayne’s death as Bruce lets his emotions have the better of him and he launches a more brutal and personal attack on Leviathan. On top of this, due to the destruction of Gotham during this war, anyone and anything related to Batman, including Bruce Wayne, have become wanted by the law. Things aren’t going so well for the Bats right now, are they?

Unless you’ve hid your head in the sand (or simply haven’t looked at the internet all week) then you probably know what happened in this issue already. It’s the big story that DC’s been pushing, and as I speak there are copies of the issue hitting eBay already for $30. That said, while this may be an issue that’s getting press coverage ad nauseam, that doesn’t mean that it skimps out on story. In fact… well, let me get myself together before I go forth. *sniff*

After the tragic death of Knight in the last issue, the war between Batman Incorporated and Leviathan moves forth into a huge war for Gotham.

Meanwhile, the origin of the Heretic stands revealed, and Damian loves kittens.

The war between Batman’s forces and Leviathan goes to the next level as Bruce goes forth to infiltrate Talia’s base. But things aren’t going to be easy with the stakes so high, as Bruce must make an important choice in this war: his city or his son?

Back in Batman #666, Grant Morrison introduced a possible future where Damian Wayne becomes Batman after failing to save his father from death. The issue foreshadowed a lot of what was to come in the future of Morrison’s run, including Batman RIP and elements from Batman and Robin. Now, years later, Morrison is revisiting that possible future in this issue of Batman Incorporated. Apocalypse is coming to Gotham and it’s Damian Wayne’s fault.

Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham are joined by Frazer Irving in an issue that proves an important fact to us; Batman is never alone. With appearances from almost every member of Batman Inc. this issue is stuffed to the brim with characters and awesome art.

Note: Due to the shooting that occurred last month during the midnight showings of “The Dark Knight Rises,” this issue was delayed by DC Comics until this week, rather than last month, in America. While many shops overseas still recieved the issue, and even some shops in America sold issues to customers, it wasn’t until this Wednesday that the issue had been widely released. That said, further issues of this title will be one month behind schedule (issue #4, slated to ship this month, will instead ship in October after the #0 issue and #5, slated for October will hit shelves in November).

Last issue, we took a look at the past of Talia al Ghul and her relationship with Bruce Wayne, revealing a bit more about her goals in the Leviathan organization. Now we’re back to focusing on Bruce and his family, and it’s the DC New 52 debut of Matches Malone as we take a trip into the Gotham City underworld that’s been falling into the clutches of Leviathan.

After the action packed first issue of Grant Morrison’s latest (and presumably last) installment in his Batman run we take an issue to focus on head behind Leviathan, Talia al Ghul. Through these pages we take a look at her life from childhood on through her involvement in previous issues of Morrison’s run and how it’s all lead up to this climactic point in the war between Bruce, Talia, and their son stuck in between it all.

It’s been almost a year since Morrison last wrote for his ongoing Batman epic, but after that long wait we’ve finally got the first issue of his new volume of Batman Incorporated.

Last we left off Talia al Ghul was revealed to be at the head of the Leviathan organization that Batman assembled Batman Inc. to fight against, so now it’s time for the endgame, as we see everything that Morrison has been working towards for the past six years come to a dramatic head. This is the beginning of the end.
