Opening Your Day: Battletoads & Double Dragon

Have an Ultimate Tuesday!

Top 5: Frenemies

You have your friends. You have your enemies. And somewhere in the middle of that are frenemies. They’re that one person you specifically hold onto to your homing shell for in Mario Kart just because the thought of dashing their first place win at the last minutes makes you so happy. If you’re Marvel, then they’re DC. If they’re Xbox, you’re PS3. Sure, you two might share a beer together, but it doesn’t mean that they’re not one bad talk away from a lightsaber duel.

Frenemies come and go. But these Top 5 are some of my most memorable.

Weekend Remix: Chilly Toads

Song: Ice Cave Dynamo
By: Joshua Morse
Based On: Ice Cavern Level from Battletoads
Original Composer: David Wise

Watch out for the Dark Queen’s minions for this week’s Weekend Remix.

In these parts, Joshua Morse is no stranger to the Weekend Remix. In fact, he was actually featured with his collaboration with DCT for Apparitions Of A Clock Tower, a very dark groove take on the Clock Tower portion of Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night.

This time, Morse is flying on a speeder bike solo for this remix to the Battletoads Ice Cavern level.

And what he’s created is a house techno remix that is simply cool. Excuse the pun, but the song really is a chill expansion of a catchy 8-bit original. Morse managed to build such a progressive audio world around the original hook and make it seem so easy. Audio-wise, he’s truly a master of building up and around to a excellent pay-off. This would sound right at in a icy lounge or a Battletoads HD update. Get on it Rare.

If you’d like to hear more from Morse, you can find more of his stuff here.

Until next weekend…GO Party!
