Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso are well known for being a high quality comic team, and their biggest and most acclaimed piece is their Vertigo series: 100 Bullets. The book has won multiple Eisner Awards and is commonly claimed to be one of the greatest Vertigo titles of all-time and one of the greatest works of crime fiction of any medium, so now I’m here to tell you why you should invest your time and money into this series.
As always with these articles, I’ll break it down as so:
-
WHO writes and draws it
-
WHAT is it about
-
WHEN was it published
-
WHERE can I find it
-
WHY should I read it
-
HOW much will it cost
So read on for my breakdown and review of 100 Bullets!

The Punisher is a rather curious character; one that has many comic readers polarized. A popular question is how a character that has no powers, who doesn’t have a lot of money, and who isn’t a genius can survive in a universe where we have mutants, super-geniuses, and intergalactic world-eaters?
Well, Jason Aaron’s PunisherMAX tells us his answer to the question, and it’s very well worth paying attention to.
As always with my Comics You Should Be Reading articles I’ll be breaking this up into five sections:
- WHO are the writer and artists?
- WHAT is it about?
- WHEN was it published?
- WHERE can I find it?
- WHY should I be reading it?
- HOW much will it cost?
So read on for my review of Jason Aaron’s PunisherMAX!

New readers, here’s a friendly breakdown about how I work these things.
These segments are broken into five categories
- WHO writes/draws it?
- WHAT is it about?
- WHEN was it published?
- WHERE can I find it?

- HOW much will it cost?
So read on to see why you should be reading Uncanny X-Force and my review of the first 18 epic issues!

This month is the last month of the DCU as we know it, and one of my favorite ongoings over there has come to its sad conclusion. Secret Six, by Gail Simone ended this week with issue 36, but now I’m here to let readers know WHY the should go forth and pick it up.
As usual I’ll break it down like this:
- WHO writes and draws it
- WHAT is it about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost
Read on to see my review and breakdown of Secret Six by Gail Simone!

A few months back, I wrote up an article for the first part of Grant Morrison’s epic ongoing Batman story in which he breaks down Bruce Wayne until he comes to his “Death” towards the end of the Final Crisis. Now I’m writing the follow up to that article which will cover the second part of his epic story: Batman and Robin and the Return of Bruce Wayne series’.
As always I’ll break my review down like this:
- Who writes and who does the art
- What is it about
- When was it published
- Where can I find it
- Why should I read it
- How much will it cost
So read on to see my breakdown and review of the second part of Morrison’s Batman saga!

With the Captain America movie coming very soon to theaters (two more weeks!) it’s about time I write up a review for the current Cap’ series so you readers can know a good place to start. Because the current series really is a good place to start, and I think the movie (and subsequent sequels and whatnot) will be taking plenty of notes from the current ongoing.
Anyway, I’ll be breaking this down as I usually do:
- Who writes and draws it
- What is it about
- When was it published
- Where can I buy it
- Why should I read it
- How much will it cost
So read on for my breakdown of Captain America by Ed Brubaker!

With the critical and commercial success of X-Men: First Class, what better time for me to write up an article about another [modern] X-Men classic. Not too long ago, very soon after Morrison’s run with the New X-Men finished, Joss Whedon (yes, the Joss who did Buffy, Dr. Horrible, Firefly and is heading the upcoming Avengers film) teamed with John Cassaday (Planetary) for a run on the X-Men that truly….Astonished readers.
As usual my article will be broken down as so:
- WHO writes and draws the series
- WHAT is it about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost
So read on so that I may entice you to read this great X-Men story… and if you already have, use this to make your friends read it!

Back in the 90’s, it was a dark time for both Batman and Superman, and the DCU as a whole. Superman died and Batman was broken at the hands of Bane, who snapped his back over his knee like a thin branch. Bane will have a starring role in the upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises” film, played by Tom Hardy, but I’m going to tell you now why you should read the Knightfall trilogy to get a bit prepared for the upcoming film.
As usually the article will be broken down as so:
- WHO writes/draws
- WHAT is it about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost me
So read on for my breakdown of Batman Knightfall!

I’ve been doing more single volume reviews as of late, but just recently I had the pleasure to finally finish the classic Vertigo series: Transmetropolitan. Vertigo has been re-releasing the ten volume series over the past couple of years and just released volume nine, but I got impatient and bought the old edition of volume ten so I could finally see the ending!
That said, let me write out why you should be reading this series in my fashion. I’ll break it down as such:
- WHO writes and does the art
- WHAT is the series about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can you purchase it
- WHY should you read it
- HOW much will it cost
So read on for my review and breakdown of this great series!

For this Comics You Should Be Reading article I’m going to use one of my personal favorite (actually probably my favorite) currently ongoing runs by my personal favorite writer, Grant Morrison’s Batman. His run is pretty extensive and convoluted seeming at times so I’m going to break this into two very distinctly different sections of his run. The first section will focus on his run with Bruce Wayne on the main Batman ongoing series, the second will focus on his series “Batman and Robin” and the mini series “The Return of Bruce Wayne”.
As usual I’ll break it down as so:
- WHO writes/draws it
- WHAT is this about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost
So keep on reading for my breakdown and review of Grant Morrison’s Batman!

As another entry in my attempt to get readers ready for this summers slew of comic based movies I’ll be breaking down and reviewing Geoff Johns ongoing run on Green Lantern. I usually try to recommend completed runs or series, but in this case I’ll forfeit that to talk about the Green Lantern run that’s most relevant to the upcoming movie.
As usual I’ll break it down as such:
- WHO is the artist and writer
- WHAT is it about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost
So continue reading to see my break down and review for Geoff Johns’ Green Lantern series!

I’m going to try and get everyone prepared a bit for the upcoming summer of comic movies, so first I’m going to recommend to you some Thor comics! Specifically the fantastic run by J Michael Straczynski that happened not too long ago.
As usual I’ll break it down like this:
- WHO writes/draws
- WHAT is it about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost
So if keep reading to see my breakdown of JMS’s landmark run on THOR!

Hey everybody! I just got to read this gem of a book (I missed the single issues, so I just got the trade paperback as it was released), and I just have to review it for you guys. The book is Daytripper, by Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba, and this really is a comic you should be reading.
As usual I’m going to break down the review as so:
- WHO is the writer and the artist on the book
- WHAT is the book about
- WHEN was it published
- WHERE can I find it
- WHY should I read it
- HOW much will it cost
So read on to see why I think this is such a great book!

I just finished another series that I’d like to recommend, so here I am, writing up another article. This time I’m writing about a DC hero, Plastic Man!
As usual, the article will be broken down like this:
- Who is the writer and artist
- What is it about
- When was it published
- Where can I find it
- How much will it cost
So keep on reading to see my breakdown of Plastic Man by Kyle Baker!

My last post was about Grant Morrison’s New X-Men run, and this time I’ll be doing one for the (arguably) most popular member of the X-Men: Wolverine. There are tons of comics focusing on the little fur-ball, but this one is for one of my personal favorite runs — Jason Aaron’s Wolverine: Weapon X.
As usual the article will be broken down like this:
-
WHO writes/draws
-
WHAT is it about
-
WHEN was it published
-
WHERE can I find it
-
WHY should I read it
-
HOW much will it cost me
So read more to see my breakdown of Wolverine: Weapon X!
