“Lord Of The Rings” LEGO Helms Deep

This Lord Of The Rings LEGO edition of Helms Deep was built by Rich-K and Big J and is truly one of the most creative LEGO created film scenes.

It certainly uses a lot. The two used 150,000 LEGO bricks and 1,700 minifigs. I’m sure even Peter Jackson would be impressed.

Man Builds 80,000 Volt Thor’s Hammer

“It’s high voltage you cant shake the shock/Because nobody wants it to stop, check it out.”

Linkin Park’s High Voltage, anyone? Well, at least one man might want to consider adopting it as his theme song thanks to this DIY Thor Hammer project. Caleb from Hackaday managed to build an 80,000 volt Thor Hammer out of tesla coil and foam. As you’ll see in the video, it’s even capable of lighting up a light bulb.

It’s so cool, he might as well master “numerology and big bang theology.”

Seriously, man, High Voltage is a great song.

Hockey And GO Combine For Jerseys

Canadian artist Dave Delisle decided to combine his love for hockey and geekdom with these custom made jerseys. I’ve never really played hockey, but I would gladly sport that Robotech jersey.

“A jersey isn’t just a glorified sweater. Or some sweaty uniform that gets worn during a game. Jerseys are much more than that — they’re the tuxedo of geeks.

Worn all over the world, for any occasion, they demand attention. But something has always been missing from jerseys, a bit of je ne sais quoi, you might say..”

You can actually view more selections and purchase them here.

C2E2 2013: Day Two (PM)

image

[via]

The afternoon of Day Two was jam packed with activity. Patton Oswalt hosted a Q&A that was being twitter-bombed by Brian Posehn, Burt Ward & Julie Newmar took part in what could best be described as a disastrous Q&A, and I got to take part in some Sci-Fi Speed Dating. Read on for more…

C2E2 2013: Day Two (AM)

It’s Saturday in Chicago, and you know what that means: Day Two of C2E2 2013. The lines are longer, the crowds are bigger, and the cosplayers are bringing their A Game.

As part of my morning coverage, I conducted a Hi 5 interview with comic artist & writer Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash) and tried to avoid getting crushed to death by the maddening crowd. More after the break…

Launched three years ago in an attempt to give the Midwest its own Comic Con of sorts, C2E2 is happening this weekend in Chicago, and I’ll be covering all of the festivities for the devoted readers of Pop GO!

It’s fairly early on the first day, but there’s already been some interesting things happening. Read on to find out…

Batman Fan’s Own Bat Cave

When Chris Weir purchased his home, he had one main thing in mind: basement space.

Weir is a huge Batman fan who after two years and $150,000 later managed to build his own Bat Cave. It doesn’t quite have a Batmobile, but the cave does have a home theater that features a 100-inch TV screen with rows of cinema seats for guests, table football, a bar, and his hundred thousands dollars worth of Batman memorabilia.

He even has a replica of the William Shakespeare bust in Wayne Manor that activates the hidden door that leads to the cave. Check it out.
