New International Trailer For “The Lone Ranger”

Following the release of the final domestic trailer for Disney’s The Lone Ranger comes this new international one.

This international trailer offers plenty of new footage, including some of the film’s key action sequences, as well as a few more bits of comedy that we can expect from this film.

With this film being heavily advertised as from the creators of Pirates of the Caribbean, I will say that this latest trailer best captures the same tone of that series from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Goreverbinski.

The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Ruth Wilson, Barry Pepper, Tom Wilkonson, James Badge Dale, Helena Bonham Carter and William  Fichtner.

Final Theatrical Trailer For “The Lone Ranger”

Disney has released this final trailer for their upcoming adaptation of The Lone Ranger

The film — based on the classic radio serials — follows John Reid’s journey from a man of the law to a legend of justice in the eyes of his native warrior ally, Tonto. This second trailer sells the film a lot better than the previous ones and highlights more of the film’s action set pieces instead of the origins of its title character.

The Lone Ranger sees director Gore Verbinski teaming up once again with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp, who all worked together on the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. Also starring in the film are Armie Hammer, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkonson, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, Barry Pepper and Helena Bonham Carter, with a release date set for July 3rd.

It’s no secret that Robert Downey Jr.’s contract with Marvel Studios is up after the upcoming Iron Man 3. Whilst it seemed a given that he would sign on for more Tony Stark adventures, that may not be the case. Speaking to GQ, Downey Jr. seems to allude to being done with the character.

Two More Character Posters For Disney’s “The Lone Ranger”

Disney has released two more character posters following last week’s release of the film’s initial four.

This time around, the two characters featured are William Fichtner’s Butch Cavendish and Tom Wilkonson’s Latham Cole. Both are among my favorite character actors currently working in Hollywood and add to my excitement for the film.

For those unaware, The Lone Ranger is the tale of John Reid’s journey from being a man of the law to a legendary figure of justice as the Lone Ranger, told through the recollection of Native American warrior Tonto.

The Lone Ranger also stars Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Ruth Wilson, Helena Bonham Carter, James Badge Dale and Barry Pepper with a release date set for July 3rd.

Darkwing Duck Theme (CGT Remix)

Weekend Remix: A Song That Flaps In The Night

Song: Darkwing Duck Theme (CGT Remix)
By: CrazyGroupTrio
Based On: The theme from Darkwing Duck
Original Composers: Steve Nelson And Thom Sharp

With Disney theme songs on the brain, this edition of The Weekend Remix is taking place with everyone’s favorite caped crusader.

No.

Not that one.

Yeah, the one with the gas gun. Darkwing Duck has one of the most memorable theme songs crafted from the doors of the mouse. With it’s mingle between urban new jack swing and dance pop, it’s one of the coolest theme songs created. And while in most regards it’s pretty much untouchable, this week’s remix is still pretty fun.

CrazyGroupTrio put Darkwing’s theme through a speedier electronica filter. But instead of causing images of Darkwing and Launchpad Disco Ducking it in the clubs, this song feels more in synch in old school gaming.

CGT’s remix sounds as if they were hired by Capcom in 1994 to make a fun Darkwing Duck platformer.

Bottom line, somewhere in an alternate universe, a 16-bit Darkwing Duck game exists with CGT’s take on the theme song, completely pushing what the SNES and Genesis could do musically. We’d be stuck on the title screen quite some time before pushing start.

Until next weekend…GO Party!

Top 5: The Disney Afternoon Themes

image

[via]

Let’s say cartoon theme songs are nothing but job interviewees with only 30 seconds to pitch what they’re about and what they offer. Themes have to be different from the others. They’ve got to be informative. And most of all, they’ve just got to just plain sound good.

Considering their schooling in the sacred House of Mouse, it would have been easy for most of the toons in the The Disney Afternoon block to walk in with their chest outs and let their lists of elite references seep through that car salesman smile.

But that wasn’t the case.

The Disney Afternoon gave some of the most memorable cartoon themes to date. And this Top 5 is dedicated to highlighting the best.

Disney Is Closing LucasArts And Cancels “Star Wars 1313” In Shift To A “Licensing Model”

image

[via]

The news coming out of Disney, owner of everything Star Wars, is that LucasArts — publisher/developer of dozens of classic titles like Grim Fandango, The Secret of Monkey Island, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars: X-Wing, and Zombies Ate My Neighbours (among so many others) — is being shuttered. Disney has decided to shift LucasArts “from an internal development to a licensing model” according to Game Informer.

And somehow there’s still more bad news. As a result of the closure, Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault have also been cancelled.
