A Cake Mario Would Be Proud Of

This cake, built by CakeCrumbs, is a delicious-looking three-tier dessert with the water, land, and sky levels from Super Mario Bros., specifically, levels 2.1 and 2.2. With the task of building this scratch and doing all of the artwork by hand, it took CakeCrumbs five days to finish.

You should take a look at her deviantART page for more GO culinary-related artwork.

USS Enterprise Soapbox Racer

For the upcoming Red Bull Soapbox Race in London’s Alexandra Palace on July 14th, Star Trek fan Rob Wixey has built this USS Enterprise racer.

With some friends, Wixey built the racer in two months. The frame of the ship is a bike cut in half and covered with plywood and polystyrene. Finishing it out is a layer of fiberglass that had been sanded and painted.

Here’s hoping he boldly goes where many will try to go during the race: first place.

What Would Happen If Superman Really Punched You?

It might have been cool seeing Superman through down in some super-powered fisticuffs in Man Of Steel or Injustice: Gods Among Us. But what would really happen if Superman actually punched you?

Jake on Vsauce3 actually attempts to scientifically break that thought down. Take a look.

Set Photos Provide A First Look At Cap’s New Costume For “The Winter Soldier”

More photos from the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier have found their way online, providing us with a glimpse of Cap’s new costume for the film.

Fan response has been somewhat mixed thus far, with some people praising the more toned down style of the costume, with the nod towards the ‘Super Soldier’ outfit Steve Rogers donned a few years ago in the comics. Other people have not been too kind, however, criticizing the suit for being somewhat bland.

And no, that isn’t Chris Evans on the motorcycle.

Captain America: The Winter Solider opens April 4, 2014.

“Pokémon X/Y” Trailer 4 and Names Localized

Following the CoroCoro news last week, the official Pokémon X/Y English site has revealed the names of the Pokémon, characters and cities that were unveiled in Japan. The trailer above shows plenty of what to expect.

Beginning with the Pokémon, Vivillon’s pre-evolved forms were revealed. The first form is called Scatterbug, which is shown using String Shot, and it evolves into Spewpa before finally reaching Vivillon. Two other new Pokémon shown in the newest trailer are Litleo is the Fire/Normal lion cub, which knows a new move called Noble Roar; and a new Fairy-type called Flabébé, which is said to hold to differently colored flowers when encountered in the wild.

In Pokémon X/Y, you will have a big supporting cast of characters around you, beginning with your neighbor. If you choose to be a boy, your neighbor will be Serena; if you choose to be a girl, your neighbor will be Calem. Shauna, Tierno and Trevor are also in the group, each with varying goals and ambitions.

Also confirmed is your new hometown, Vaniville Town. Your first destination is likely Santalune City, where the Santalune Gym resides. There, you will meet Alexa, a guide and journalist, and her younger sister, Viola, who happens to be a professional photographer and a gym leader. In addition, you will get your pair of roller skates in Santalune City.

Weekend Remix: Go Go Gadget Thunder!

Song: Gadget/Thundercats
By: CAI
Based On: Themes and Sounds from Inspector Gadget And Thundercats (80s)
Original Composers: Haim Saban, Shuki Levy and James Lipton

We’re taking an ride through the 80s, trance style, for this week’s Weekend Remix.

It’s probably safe to say that any self-proclaimed child of the 80s or early 90s can hum the theme songs to the original Thundercats and Inspector Gadget cartoons.

The two stand out more than Cloud Strife at a Happy Heroes’ Convention. With that being said, to somehow incorporate either song into a techno audio arena is a cool idea. To combine both into a single song is mad.

But in the skillful hands of the London based CAI, the idea just sounds cool when you actually hear it. Listening to his classic Gadget/Thundercats mix is like speeding towards the 80s in a DeLorean, while bumping hard trance records through the speakers. Past and future collide at break neck electronica speeds.

And the song is just as fun and attention grabbing as the toons themselves.

If you’d like to hear more from CAI, check out his SoundCloud.

Until next weekend… GO GO Gadget Party!
