Fan Favorite ‘13 - Final 4: Joseph Joestar vs. Trafalgar Law

Today’s penultimate battle decides which final character will have the chance to fight for the title of Fan Favorite. And it’s only fitting that the final spot comes down to the only two characters who have dominated their opponents in every single round.

Despite not having used the family’s secret technique up to this point, Joseph Joestar has effectively managed to run away from the competition. On the same token, Trafalgar Law has separated himself so far from every competitor he’s faced, that no one has even come close to his spherical territory.

Who will be the one to represent the Otaku Bracket in the championship match? Help decide by voting after the break!

Fan Favorite ‘13 - Elite 8: Joseph Joestar vs. Koro-sensei

Today’s Elite 8 match-up is the first of two otaku battles featuring very tough combatants from the world of shonen.

Joseph Joestar flipped the tables in the last round, as he was the one who banished his opponent from the tournament. On the other hand, Koro-sensei narrowly escaped assassination at the hands of a genius mangaka.

Fan Favorite ‘13 - Sweet 16: Joseph Joestar vs. Rikka Takanashi

Our first Sweet 16 otaku match-up pits together a pair of purple-haired anime characters.

The Ripple Master overpowered his First Round opponents so much that there was no need for the family’s secret technique. On the flip side, the Wielder of Tyrant’s Eye was pushed to the brink of reality, needing overtime to vanquish her enemies.

Who will be the first otaku character to advance to the Elite 8: muscular Joseph Joestar or green-eyed Rikka Takanashi? Help decide by voting after the break!

Fan Favorite ‘13 - First Round: Yuniko Kozuki vs. Joseph Joestar vs. Hotaro Oreki

image

The very top of the Otaku bracket brings the second match of the First Round and provides all-anime action.

As the current Red King and level-nine Burst Linker, the tiny Yuniko Kozuki is proof that looks can be deceiving. Deception is one of the strengths of Joseph Joestar, who also has the ability to either predict his way to victory or figuratively run away from the competition. And it’s nearly impossible to deceive Hotaro Oreki, and if given enough time, he’ll become a mystery to opponents who take him lightly.

Top 5: Favorite Anime OPs of Fall 2012

Openings for watchable mediums and programming have been around for decades. The role they play differ from person to person. To some, openings for anime play an integral part to the watching experience by helping set the mood. These people either favor the music or the animation of the opening; some favor both. To others, openings have no importance; they’re just a 1-2-minute waste of time standing in the way of what’s about to be viewed.

I’m guilty of falling into both groups, but only depending on how good or bad I personally feel an opening is. I personally favor the music over animation. If it catches my ear, I always take the time to listen to the opening of an episode no matter how many times I’ve actually listened to it in the past. There are even special cases during the beginning of seasons where I’ll give the first episodes of series a chance because their openings captivated my ear buds. But if an opening of a show I like doesn’t draw my interest, then I’ll skip straight to the episode.

There have been some pretty notable openings this Fall — some for shows I’m following, some for shows I’ve dropped. Listed below are my top 5 favorite anime openings — focused on the musical side — this season. Did your favorites make the list? Hit the break to find out!
