Weekend Remix: Triforce Of Metal
Song: Skyward Sword Theme (Metal Version)
By: Artificial Fear
Based On: The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Theme
Original Composers: Hajime Wakai, Shiho Fujii, Mahito Yokota, Takeshi Hama and Koji Kondo
It’s time to grab the Master Sword from its slumber for this week’s Weekend Remix.
2011 has served as a special year for The Legend Of Zelda for a couple of reasons. For one, 2011 marks 25 years of Triforce gathering, hook-shooting, dungeon-crawling adventures with everyone’s favorite green-capped protagonist. And two, this year has also allowed Nintendo to release the much anticipated Skyward Sword, the Ocarina Of Time prequel that’s got many gamers and critics already showering praises.
When it comes to Nintendo creations, you can usually bet that the gaming company will take special attentive care of their titles, especially in the music department. The Legend Of Zelda series has already inspired a tidal wave of gaming remixes. But that doesn’t mean you should skip Artificial Fear’s remix of the Skyward Sword theme.
Much like last week’s Skyrim remix, Fear’s take on the theme is a metal affair, sprinkling some folksy vibes and soaring with screaming guitars. What’s impressive, is not only the fact that Fear skillfully plays every guitar on this tune from bass to acoustic, but also makes each instrument fit together like a seamless musical puzzle. The song kicks off with an impressive power that’s also as fearless as Link himself. And this eventually segues into a softer acoustic take on the melody, before eventually ripping into a fantastic guitar solo.

Until next weekend…GO Party!

Super Mario 3D Land (3DS): Mario’s jump to the third dimension comes as the 3DS is still struggling to establish itself. A mixture of 2D and 3D platforming and throwbacks to Mario games of the past create an experience sure to please fans young and old.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii): The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 25th anniversary in style with the release of a bright and colorful new title. Of course, Link is out to save Zelda again but this time she’s a childhood friend instead of Hyrule’s princess.

There’s been a bunch of Legend of Zelda news already today, but here’s one last huge piece to add to the pile.
Apparently, Shigeru Miyamoto is seriously looking at remaking The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past… in 3D! Of course, this would be a major change to the original 2D classic, which is still widely considered one of the best titles ever made.

The long wait for Link’s final adventure on the Wii is almost at an end. This new trailer shows off some of his colorful journey and will set gamers up for the absolutely beautiful adventure that’s coming on November 20th, 2011.

If you weren’t aware of the big press conference Nintendo had yesterday, that’s okay. Nothing too big was announced—that is, except for one small little tidbit at the beginning of the conference. Shigeru Miyamoto decided to let it be known that the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will apparently be 50-100 hours long! You heard me right: 50-100 hours.
I’m pretty sure that’s unheard of for a Zelda title. Actually, that’s pretty much unheard of for almost any title. We’ll be experiencing a lot of Link come this winter…

2011 has been a solid year for gaming early on. There’s been hits and misses, classics remade and overhauled, and surprises coming out of left field. One thing is for certain, gamers have had plenty of titles to check out in the first six and a half months of 2011. You might not agree with the final positions or the exclusions, including games that I haven’t had the pleasure of getting to yet such as The Witcher 2, but be sure that come December, this list will be very different.

Miyamoto must be given some credit for this beautiful look at the final entry for Link on the Nintendo Wii. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword appears to be bright and inviting for gamers with a great dollop of artistic flavor thrown in, although, Link and Zelda look a little too similar to their Phillips’ CD-i counterparts in my opinion.
Expect Link to soar onto the Wii this fall.
A Link to Aperture Science
Step 1. Open item menu
Step 2. Equip Portal Gun
Step 3. Have fun
Although not as sexy as Chell, Link seems rather comfortable wielding a Portal Gun. Need an emulator patch, pronto!

Whenever I see cosplayers with corgis, it’s usually Cowboy Bebop and the corgi is Ein. However, this dog is cosplaying as Epona from Legend of Zelda with the corgi’s owner explaining:
“We recently went to a convention with our adorkable corgi Kali. She dressed up as Epona from Legend of Zelda. And yes — she’s a tailed pemmie and loves to chase her tail!”
Finally, corgi cosplay now branching out… besides the usual lobster suit or Ein. ;)

The Legend of Zelda (1987) Trailer
If a Legend of Zelda film was made in the 80s, and you know, was directed by John Hughes, then it might look like this. This faux/parody trailer was produced by some of the talented folks from Gamervision, and it’s ripe with Legend of Zelda and 80s movie references. If both combined is comparable to peanut butter and jelly to you, then you’ll eat this bad boy up. It’s even got that vintage VHS quality to it.
Perhaps you’re only watching this trailer because of the Legend of Zelda parody and/or are a 90s baby who hasn’t had the pleasure of watching some of these 80s teen flicks, and some of the references flew by your head. No worries. YouTube user and filmmaker nickfromflc (Nick Murphy) — who uploaded and directed this video, and is a part of team Gamervision — also provides a very cool top to bottom comparison of the references and their 80s originals.
