Game Review: Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

[via]

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is the type of gaming experience that is bathed in visceral value and nostalgic cringing. The first relates to its bountiful, stylistic, and sheer gorgeous aesthetics that entrance the player. The second strikes at the heart of all players who grew up with Japanese RPGS like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. However, these can resonate only so deep for players new and old. To understand if Ni No Kuni will strive through time is a question of what is at the center of its brain and heart.

Curious how anatomy plays into this JRPG? Hit the break for the full review.

This “Ni no Kuni” Trailer Will Satisfy Anime & Game Lovers

Lost in yesterday’s early E3 trailer releases was this gem by developer Level-5. And it shouldn’t have been.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch centers around a boy named Oliver, who is on a quest to save his mother. Along the way he befriends allies who will ultimately lead him to an encounter with the White Witch.

A joint venture with publisher Namco Bandai and Studio Ghibli, the latter’s animated touch is on full display in this trailer. Joe Hisashi’s soundtrack also shines.

The English dubbing didn’t offend me, personally, but gamers will have the option to switch to the Japanese track should they prefer to.

Expect to experience this magical adventure on January 22, 2013.
