Our very own Pop GO editor Jason just came back from a trip to Japan, and he brought home some souvenirs. One of the cool things he pulled from his luggage was this figure set of our favorite pirate crew in their younger years. The package was all in Japanese, so I had to do a little sleuthing to find out what toy series these were. During that search I found that there is an actual color version of the figures, but the sepia version was all that Jason saw on the shelves.
I kind of hijacked his figures to write up this post. It started off with me just wanting to test them out on my lighting setup, but since I was taking pictures of them anyway, why not do the write-up? Sorry, Jason, these figures were just too awesome to not talk about.
More details and photos of each figure from the Sepia version of One Piece’s ’Dream and Vow Doesn’t change’ series after the break.

One Balloon Bank
If you ever need an incentive to save your money, you might want to try Media Factory’s One Piece Gomu Gomu no Balloon Bank. That face is enough to make you think twice about even taking out some money from it. The bank will cost you over $43. You may be able to find it in import and specialty toy shops.

“I have to give my utter respect to MegaHouse. Next to Kotobukiya, they tend to release a massive load of male figures. While I’m not really into One Piece (my friends talk my ear off about it, though), I have to say it’s pretty damn awesome that they continue to make figures of the many characters that are in the series. I can’t say that I’m familiar with his Luffy but hot damn, when did he look ever so manly?!
He’s based on a 1/8 scale and will be released sometime in December. The retail price for him is about 5,985 yen and since the pre-orders were opened a couple of days ago, he can be found easily all over the internet. MegaHouse is also releasing a Chopper figure to go along with the “strong edition” Luffy!”
