“Megaman X Fanimation”

Looks like Mega Man is celebrating his 25th birthday in style. Capcom recently released the Street Fighter X Mega Man game earlier this week, as well as announced the eventual digital release of the first six games. And now it appears that fan Shane Newville is joining in the celebration with this video he created.

Take a look at some awesome Maverick Hunting action with Megaman X. Be sure to stick around to see who he faces as his last opponent.

Weekend Remix: X Marks The Spot Part 1

Song: Towering Revolution
By: Washudoll
Based On: Boomer Kuwanger Stage From Mega Man X
Original Composers: Setsuo Yamamoto, Makoto Tomozawa, Yuki Iwai, Yuko Takehara, Toshihiko Horiyama

Fellow Maverick Hunters, it’s time to charge up the X-Buster for this week’s Weekend Remix. OC Remix just released Maverick Rising, a special album dedicated to the music of Mega Man X.

What you essentially get for free are two albums worth of excellent music. With hardly a weak track in sight, this made choosing a track to feature for this week extremely hard. So for a Weekend Remix first, we’re doing a two-parter.

Part one’s choice is coming straight from a tune influenced by the first game in the series. Washudoll decided to give Boomer Kuwanger’s stage quite an excitable update. Midi keyboards are replaced in favor of fuller instrumentation, essentially making this song sound like it’s getting a high-def makeover.

There’s really no way to define Towering Revolution other than cinematic. This song is like a giant firecracker; slowly building up like a lit fuse until it sheds it dramatic piano opening. It’s then that we’re hit with a powerful techno-rock take on a hook already implanted in the minds of many gamers. Towering Revolution doesn’t shoot and pop. It simply jets and brilliantly explodes into a supernova of awesome sounds.

If you’d like to download Maverick Rising, you can find it here.

Until next weekend, remember your passcode and…GO Party!

“Street Fighter X Tekken” Shows Off Pacman, Trolls Megaman Fans

Fighting game fans are very excited about the release of the new mash-up of Street Fighter X Tekken. The rosters are being finalized but prospective owners of either PlayStation version (PS Vita or PS3) are being treated to extra characters such as Cole from Infamous and Kuro and Toro of PlayStation mascot fame.

But there were two “secret” characters shrouded in mystery in the last trailer. This new trailer, fresh from Capcom, pulls the curtain off the mystery figures to reveal Pacman and Megaman. In case you’re wondering, Pacman is riding Tekken’s famous character Mokujin and Megaman’s design is ripped straight from the original box art of Megaman on the NES.

As funny as the old Megaman is, we fans can only keep seeing is our collective, shattered dreams of Megaman Legends 3 and Megaman Universe. This only makes it feel worse, Capcom! I think I need to cry in a corner now…
