Manga Review: Onepunch Man

image

Saitama is the ultimate superhero. After three years of hellish training, he has surpassed human limits and gained the ability to defeat any enemy with one punch, earning him the moniker Onepunch Man. Since becoming, to what he refers to as, an “average superhero,” he has saved the world more than anyone else, yet no one sees him do it so he gets none of the recognition. Thus, the strongest being to ever have existed lives a rather mundane life defeating countless monsters on his way to the supermarket’s sale.

“The Star Wars That I Used To Know”

Normally, when people play Gotye’s radio infection “Somebody That I Used To Know”, I try to point them in the direction of the Elliott Smith song of the same name. But, thanks to Teddie FilmsStar Wars parody, I just may need to change my tune. Right, well ignoring my bad jokes, take a listen to “The Star Wars That I Used To Know.”

“The Hunger Games” Coca-Cola Commercial Parody

With The Hunger Games turning into the latest phenomenon it’s inevitable that people will come up with some creative videos that reflect on it.

In this case we’re treated to a parody commercial in which Coca-Cola throws in its own advertisement for The Hunger Games as a proud sponsor. Obviously the company doesn’t endorse the The Hunger Games, but this fan-made advertisement is quite creative regardless.

John Carpenter’s “Charlie Brown: Blockhead’s Revenge”

John Carpenter decided to provide a slasher spin on everyone’s favorite Blockhead along with MTV’s Teen Wolf cast. Watch as Charles Shulz’s creations become immersed in a world of sex, revenge, and missed footballs.

I would probably watch this if it were a real movie. Any idea where I can find the soundtrack to this fake trailer?

“The Muppets” (2011) Final Parody Trailer

It’s a sad day for me, as I bring you the final parody trailer for the upcoming Muppets film.

I’ve loved the parody trailers that they’ve been pumping out all year in anticipation for their November 23rd release, and with this being the penultimate trailer, they break everything out—including some last minute parodies of other upcoming films. The three films that are subjected to parodies in this final and hilarious trailer are Paranormal Activity 3, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and finally Puss in Boots.

The Piggy with the Froggy Tattoo (2011) - Parody Trailer #4

Disney and The Muppets have released their fourth parody trailer leading up to their Thanksgivings release. Following the success of their previous three parody trailers: The Fuzzy Pack, Being Green, and Green with Envy, they now bring us this aforementioned trailer. Guess which film it’s parodying?

That’s right, it’s spoofing the trailer for the upcoming American adaptation of the Swedish novel & film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. And what a great parody trailer this is. Very meta in its concept and quite entertaining, which makes me actually want to see both The Muppets and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo even more now.

“Nichijou” OP Parody (AV)

So it looks like Nichijou, of all anime, has its own AV parody. And yes, when I say AV, I mean porn. The folks at TMA, who have done many cosplay AV parodies of anime in the past, took it upon themselves to create one for Nichijou, titled “Hinichijou”.

They even managed to create a frame-by-by frame parody of Nichijou’s first OP which has been making the rounds on the net today. Despite the AV tidbit, their OP parody is very PG. As a matter of fact, you wouldn’t even know it was an AV parody unless you were familiar with TMA’s work (I am not) and would even think it was pretty decent for a cosplay parody. Even Sakamoto has a rather hilarious appearance.

Hit the break to view the OP parody video. (Suitable for work.)

The Legend of Zelda (1987) Trailer

If a Legend of Zelda film was made in the 80s, and you know, was directed by John Hughes, then it might look like this. This faux/parody trailer was produced by some of the talented folks from Gamervision, and it’s ripe with Legend of Zelda and 80s movie references. If both combined is comparable to peanut butter and jelly to you, then you’ll eat this bad boy up. It’s even got that vintage VHS quality to it.

Perhaps you’re only watching this trailer because of the Legend of Zelda parody and/or are a 90s baby who hasn’t had the pleasure of watching some of these 80s teen flicks, and some of the references flew by your head. No worries. YouTube user and filmmaker nickfromflc (Nick Murphy) — who uploaded and directed this video, and is a part of team Gamervision — also provides a very cool top to bottom comparison of the references and their 80s originals.

Team Nintendo vs. Microsoft in vintage FFIV fashion

This 8-bit parody courtesy of DoctorOctoroc pits famous NES characters — Link, Samus, Mario, Zelda and Mega Man — against the evil Microsoft boss. It’s modeled after Final Fantasy IV’s turn-based battle system.

Had something like this existed back in the day, you better believe I would have played the crap out of it. Note the battle theme, which was also used as Culex’s theme in Super Mario RPG.
