Top 5: TV Asian Girl Crushes

image

If you’ve been watching television for as long as I have, it’s only natural to develop crushes on actors, personalities and characters. And with me being a red-blooded male, I crushed on a lot of television girls over the years.

As an Asian American myself, I’ve always been more drawn to Asian women. And while there has been a steady increase of talented Asian individuals presented on American screens (small and big) than ever before, it’s understandably still a minor percentage. Go Go Mini Rangers!

Funko is going to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers by giving three of the six teens with attitude the POP! Vinyl treatment.

The first wave of these 3.75” figures will include the Red, Pink and White Rangers. Retailing around $11 to $12, you can catch these figures at major retailers on November 29.

These are cool, but personally, I’m hoping that they’ll make a Green Ranger figure, as that’s my favorite version of Tommy.

Mangaka of the Week: Shotaro Ishinomori

[via]

It is common knowledge that Power Rangers, the show that many of us grew up watching, is based off of the Japanese Super Sentai series. But did you know that the creator of the Super Sentai series and the prominent Kamen Rider series was, in fact, a mangaka?

Shotaro Ishinomori-sensei was an influential figure in not only manga and anime but also tokusatsu, the “Japanese term that applies to any live-action film or television drama that usually features superheroes and makes considerable use of special effects.”
