Psycho-Pass and Shinsekai Yori are two carryover shows from the Fall 2012 season, and both are set in dystopian societies which apply strict utilitarian regimes to keep people in line. Utilitarianism is a theory in normative ethics (the study of ethical action) which argues that the universally proper course of action is whatever maximizes happiness and minimizes suffering.
