Welcome one and all to another edition of the Weekend Remix, which is Hollow tested, but your soul approves.

This week’s remix concept is…unique to say the least, bridging together J-pop and one of Detroit’s hardcore. By all accounts, based solely on how outlandish the idea truly is, this is a remix where the very idea of its existence should burst the paper its written on into flames, have the ashes accidentally inhaled by the person who thought of it in the first place, and have that person burst into flames and then turn into ashes carried by the wind, perpetuating some needless cycle of persons bursting ash inhaling madness. But a talented ear must be Hellbound’s Bankai, as he has the unique ability to make this J-pop hit and hip-hop classic blend seamlessly, and avoid such a flaming catastrophe.

Although nothing could truly replace the late Nate Dogg’s montage ready chorus, Yui’s take on the chorus makes for a fun bad cop/good cop game of tag between her and Eminem. Besides, you’ve got to admit that Em’s masterful “F*ck You I Will Persevere” delivery fits perfectly with Ichigo’s often “fight against the odds” persona. Even with the slowed down groove of Rolling Star, this is still badass music for an anime badass.
