It looks like this is a fairly heavy week of comic releases this week, meaning one thing: there should be a lot of good titles hitting the shelves! A new creative era for the Green Lantern line of books begins with Green Lantern #21, whilst a mystery ends in the pages of Daredevil: End of Days #8!

We are faced with that strange 5th week of the month once more, where the releases seem to dry up. Saying that, however, that doesn’t mean there are not some great comics hitting the shelves, as the much anticipated X-Men #1 finally debuts!

It appears to be a small week this time round in terms of the quantity of titles out there, but that doesn’t mean that the quality is any lower than usual! “The Secret Origin of Tony Stark” continues in Iron Man #10, whilst the epic “Hell on Earth War” comes to a conclusion in the pages of X-Factor #256!

When this series was first teased, it was being billed as two things; first, the main Marvel NOW! titles coming out of Avengers VS X-Men, and second as Remender’s successor to his incomparable Uncanny X-Force. For the first several issues, I could see that editorial was doing their best to make sure it actually was the premier NOW! title, but now the title is finally feeling like UXF. And it’s doing so in the most amazing of ways.

Ah, Thor - God of Thunder. The series that keeps on giving. I seriously believe that Jason Aaron just fished into my own mind and found out all of my subconscious desires as far as what I never knew I wanted (nay, needed) in a Thor comic, and then Marvel stuck Esad Ribic on interiors because he’s the greatest thing to happen to Thor art since Simonson’s first KRAKOOM! Yeah, this book can still get it.

The next stage of Hickman’s Avengers is moving along at a steady pace, and this issue we see a small crew of heroes set out for a trip to Hong Kong to infiltrate a casino. It’s a fun little single-issue story that includes some notable character work and nice artwork.

We strangely have the start of the aftermath to the final Geoff Johns Green Lantern story, as the first epilogue to “Wrath of the First Lantern” arrives in the pages of Green Lantern Corps #20! If anything, though, it’s business as usual this week, with the next issues of some great titles hitting the shelves; a maybe a new series or two as well!

I think one of the most common questions I get asked from new fans to comics is “What Deadpool comics should I read?” Maybe it’s because the internet community is really where the Merc with a Mouth started to become popular for the current generation, because we all know that 4chan took a liking to him back before X-Men Origins: Wolverine sewed his gab shut.
Even though his popularity has declined in recent years (notable through him no longer having four ongoing titles on the stands), he’s still a subject of interest, and still a character many people simply want to read more of.
I’m going to give you five stories that I think are worth checking out for any Dead-head. They’re not necessarily the BEST, but they’re some of my favorites.
