Co-Writer Simon Kinberg Reveals Details about the “X-Men: First Class” Sequel

Last weekend at Comic Con, Simon Kinberg revealed a few details about the writing and production process of X-Men: First Class 2, which he is co-writing with director Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman.

Since the announcement of the director in January, there have been little to no information on what is going on with the sequel. However, although he was not able to reveal much, Kinberg did give away some teasers for the fans.

“The Expendables 2” San Diego Comic-Con Poster
A new ’80s action movie themed poster of The Expendables 2 for SDCC has hit the web. Radiating an aura of masculinity, this poster has it all for the action star mash-up sequel. The poster itself is probably the best one to date thanks to its orange and blue contrast, while being a reminder of the genre’s glory days in the ’80s.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” Movie Coming In 2014

Latino Review broke a scoop a little while ago that in addition to Captain America 2, 2014 will also see the release of a feature film of one of the more obscure but beloved Marvel comic characters, The Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Scarlet Spider To Return?
Yesterday’s Spider-Man-themed panel at SDCC closed with a teaser image of what appears to be Ben Reilly’s blue hoodie on the ground and set on fire. The hoodie is of course well known for being part of his costume in his Scarlet Spider identity, which he used originally to distinguish himself from Peter Parker, better known as Spider-Man.
So just what does this mean? Could it be that Ben didn’t really die and is set to return? My gut instinct is no; but then again, things did get rather complicated the first time Ben showed up.

“Mass Effect” Movie Details at Comic-Con

For any Mass Effect fans able to attend this year’s San Diego Comic Con, you may want to make it a point to stop by Legendary Pictures’ presentation.

The film company, hosting its first ever comic-con presentation, will give the attendees perhaps some more information on their upcoming films, including the Mass Effect movie.

Representing the Mass Effect film for the panel will be game creator Casey Hudson and film screenwriter Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Thor).

Good video game movie adaptations are pretty slim. Could the Mass Effect movie prove that a good game adaptation is possible?

And for those who wouldn’t know the difference between the Geth and a Turian, you may still want to check Legendary’s panel for their other films, including Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.

The panel will take place Friday July 22. In the meantime, you can a list of the  other film projects to be presented at comic con here.

First Annual Designer Toy Awards SDCC 2011

Clutter Magazine will be hosting the first Designer Toy Awards which will be happening at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

What is it?

“Clutter Magazine is very excited to announce the first annual International Designer Toy Awards (DTA) - Hosted at the Munky King party Friday, July 22nd 2011 in San Diego, California.

The Designer Toy Awards celebrates the creativity, innovation and artistic excellence in the Art Toy market, which after more than a decade has become a prominent and legitimate form of artistic and commercial expression. This awards ceremony will celebrate the best of the scene’s artists, designers, customizers and manufacturers, as well as honoring those involved in championing Art Toys throughout the world.

The awards will take two routes. First, a carefully selected board of professional artists, producers and impresarios will choose group of nominations from the many designs released over the past year.

The second route consists of a group of awards chosen by YOU! The DTA PUBLIC awards feature special categories that are open to the general public for popular voting. Stay tuned for more details!”

So sign up today and start nominating! Oh by the way, you won’t find the photo of the Floxy Fox toy design on their main page but I just thought you know, maybe… nudge nudge. There’s also a category for “Best Customizer”. I just thought I’d throw it out there too ^_^.
