Fly all you want, space foxes, but there’s no way you’ll be able to shake this week’s remix. Not even a barrel roll will do.

DaMonz decided to tackle a Nintendo space classic with his Star Fox 64 remix. Based on the songs, Battle 3 and Starwolf’s theme, you’ll quickly notice that his take shares the two original tunes’ urgency. Yet, it’s definitely its own animal that leaves us with a happy marriage of deep galaxy ambiance and intense jungle groove. 

At first, Star King’s opening sort of coasts like a ship slowly drifting in space. The inclusion of the game’s sound bytes is a very nice touch, setting up that particular urgency that dominates most of the song.  

After roughly a minute, the drums begin their rapid assault, skirting around quick drum ‘n bass territory. Meanwhile, everything has shifted to light speed thanks to the song’s fast spirals of synths and piano.

This isn’t a homage to one of the best games in the Star Fox series, it’s the soundtrack to fast and furious space dog fights.
