“Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist” Starts Kickstarter Campaign
Street Fighter Legacy director and writer Joey Ansah launched a Kickstarter Campaign for his live-action Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist series. The project is seeking £625,000 (US$950,000) and will run until May 3.
The series would follow the history of Ken, Ryu, Akuma and Gōtetsu. The scripts have already been written, but filming has started. Ansah also noted that they already have principal members cast and have been working on special effects. In addition, actor Togo Igawa (The Last Samurai, 47 Ronin) has been cast.
Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono originally announced the series at last year’s San Diego Comic Con. The series is set for Winter 2013 release. You can click on the above video for more details.

Weekend Remix: Mantis Slash Drums
Song: SSIV Yang Concept (Crowded Street Smooth DnB RMX)
By: DJ Kariu
Based On: Crowded Street From Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Original Composer: Hideki Okugawa
We’re heading back to the crowded streets for a brawl in this edition of the Weekend Remix.
It’s probably no secret that out of all video game soundtracks, I hold the OSTs for Street Fighter III (all three major versions) close to my heart. So when someone attempts to touch any of the music, my ears perk up with a strange mixture of anticipation and caution.
However, when it comes to DJ Kariu, it’s nothing but anticipation that hits me. You’ll probably find no one else whose love for the series’ soundtrack nearly equals his awesome talent.
‘Crowded Streets’ turned into late 90s, crowded street party thanks to this drum and bass remix. The beat is of course faster, but thanks to the laid back feel of the original melody, it’s much more subtle than intense.

album Street Fighter Alpha 2: Da Soundz of Spasm
Weekend Remix: Schoolgirl Deep Beats
Song: Sakura Hot Thigh Mix
By: Spasm
Based On: Sakura’s Theme From Street Fighter Alpha 2
Original Composer: Tatsuro Suzuki
Before we move forward, sometimes it’s important to look at back. 2013 is knocking on the door, and for this week’s remix, we’re pulling from the past.
In 1998, Viz Media released Street Fighter Alpha 2 Underground Mixxes: Da Soundz of Spasm. Not only was it one of the first times a fully arranged Japanese album got an official release in the U.S., but for a lot of people, it was probably also an introduction to video game remix music. Mixxes takes some of the themes found in the Street Fighter Alpha 2 and dips them into the pools of drum and bass, jungle, trance and hard techno.
What’s great about the album is how each theme seems to fit in whatever music genre playground they visit. Whether it’s Dan’s Theme jumping around like a neon-lit dance party, or Dhalsim’s Theme truly feeling like it’s part of a trance-y meditation, each remix fits.
The album opener, which uses Sakura’s Theme, is probably one of the more experimental tracks when you consider that there’s another remix dedicated to the schoolgirl brawler that seems much more closer to the original.
Still, the song takes Sakura through some experimental drum and bass beats, and there’s no shortage of energy and bounce found from the original. The familiar melody meshes sublimely with the new mix, and the addition of soundbites from Ryu’s number one fan help reinforce its roots. Simply put, this track is fun new ride anchored by the original.
If you’d like to hear more of this album, you can still find it floating around online through various stores. In the meantime, check out Dan’s Old Skool Mix.
Until next year… GO Party!

Celebrate Blue Bomber’s 25th With “Street Fighter X Mega Man”
Capcom delivers love letters to its most iconic franchises in unique ways. Since the release of Mega Man 10 almost 3 years ago, the Blue Bomber has been absent from any releases. Two highly regarded projects, Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe, were both shelved this year, much to the dismay of fans (this writer included).
As was earlier reported this year, Capcom promised new titles, and they’ve kept their word in a curious way. For his 25th anniversary Mega Man is back and he’s facing off with Street Fighter.
Street Fighter X Mega Man might follow the naming convention of Capcom’s last fighting game crossover (Street Fighter X Tekken), but it has nothing to do with the world of Cross Gauges and Super Arts. Instead, Capcom has turned to Mega Man fan and Singapore native, Seow Zong Hui, to create a traditional 8-bit Mega Man adventure, using Street Fighter characters in place of the traditional robot masters. Eight iconic fighters, ranging from Ryu to Blanka, will make an appearance, and true to series form, Mega Man will take key powers from each boss as he defeats them.
Capcom is planning on making Street Fighter X Mega Man a PC-only download starting on December 17. Best of all, the game will be absolutely free. The publisher also notes this marks a “kick off of festivities taking place in 2013, when Mega Man takes center stage as ‘The Blue Bomber’ reflects on his own 25 years of gaming greatness.”
If this is the start of a new revitalized and loving relationship then, by all means, let the sentimentality flow, Capcom.

Weekend Remix: Remix Is On The Scene
Song: Tekken X Street Fighter Ibuki Theme Concept
By: EXZD
Based On: Twilight From Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Original Composer: Hideki Okugawa
Street Fighter X Tekken showed the world what Capcom could do with a healthy union of Street Fighter and Tekken’s best. Now the world stands ready to see what Namco-Bandai has to offer with the proposed Tekken X Street Fighter.
While eagerly anticipating the title’s release, it’s natural that fans come up with their own ideas of what could happen? Most of these ideas took on the forms of artwork. Some, like this week’s remix, present themselves as music.
So just how would Ibuki’s Twilight theme sound through the Tekken lens? EXZD attempts to answer that question, trading in the soundtrack for some countryside ninjutsu training for music to a shadowy leap through an urban landscape. Twilight is a beautiful piece where its sound is rooted in some calm mystery. For instance, its melody breezes through laid-back drums.
That’s not the case here.
EXZD’s concept keeps the familar hook of the original, but surrounds it with sharp synths that pulsate, drums and claps that bounce, and a bass line that forces them all to team up with its dominating presence. It contains enough from the orginal to make it recognizable, yet sounds like it belongs in a Tekken game.
You can find more from EXZD here on YouTube.
Until next weekend… GO Party!
