XBOX 360 “Smartglass” App Will Change Your Content Consumption

This Friday, October 26, 2012, marks a big release for Microsoft with the new operating system, Windows 8. The OS will feature more streamlined program (aka application) accessibility, with user interactivity as one highlighting factor. Released concurrently and running the same OS will be the Microsoft tablet, Surface. What this means for players is a bold new step for interactivity with the XBOX 360 app, SmartGlass.

The SmartGlass app turns your mobile device (launched as a Windows Phone exclusive with iOS and Android apps coming next year) and / or Surface tablet into a remote control, and extension of media powered from the console.

For example: you can control movies, music and Internet browsing, across one platform and switch to another on the fly. Or while watching a movie, the phone or tablet will act as a secondary display for supplemental content. For a better idea of all the unique features, check out the above video. Gaming connectivity has been announced and details will emerge later this year.
