Variety is reporting that Paramount is moving along nicely with their plans for a sequel to the 1986 classic, Top Gun, with Peter Craig enlisted to pen the film.
Peter Craig is best known for his work on The Town, and is apparently going to be working on Top Gun 2 from scratch, as the X-Men: First Class duo of Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz apparently never actually wrote anything - despite reports that they were writing the sequel back in October.
There’s still no plot details released as of yet, but Tom Cruise is expected to return with Tony Scott, with Jerry Bruckheimer also producing the sequel.

Wait, what?
It seems that with 3D still being all the rage, and also as part of the recent push to raise the profile of going to the cinema again, the powers that be have decided that the Legend 3D business model of 3D conversion has real potential to work, whilst being cost effective.
