Rick Remender’s final issue of Venom is finally here, and he ends his run in quite a beautiful fashion. It’s the big battle you’ve been waiting for between Venom and his arch-nemesis, Jack O’Lantern, with stellar art from Declan Shalvey. Let me tell you, I’m going to miss Remender on this title.

Venom’s battle with the Savage Six comes to a close in this issue, and it’s nothing short of action-packed. With the identity of the Crime Master revealed, it’s just a matter of seeing how Flash Thompson will deal with this foe, especially given his relation to Betty Brant.

Teased a long while back, Marvel announced this weekend at the Amazing Spider-Man panel at SDCC that both Venom and Scarlet Spider will be involved in a crossover titled Minimum Carnage this October.

The story will see both Venom and Scarlet Spider having to work together in order to defeat Carnage, who has found a new hunting ground, hinted to be the Microverse dimension.

Flash Thompson hasn’t had it easy at all since he first became Agent Venom, and in this current arc everything he’s gone up against in the past is coming to a head as the Savage Six closes in on Venom and all of those that he loves.

So can Flash save them all, or will there be some major casualties to be had in this final story from Rick Remender?

From the sounds of it, Columbia Pictures is still set on trying to bring Venom back to the big screen in a solo film, with Josh Trank currently being the man expected to direct, and is also looking to integrate it into the same film universe as The Amazing Spider-Man.

After a bit of introduction last week it’s officially time for Venom to face the Savage Six; a group of villains including Jack O’Lantern and Crime Master, who have been plaguing Flash since the start of his time as Agent Venom. Knowing that this arc is the conclusion of Remender’s run on the series makes it all the more exciting to read, so read on to see how it panned out!

Announced today at Marvel’s Next Big Thing liveblog, Rick Remender will be departing Venom with August’s issue #22 being his last.

Taking over full writing duties from issue #23 (also in August) is Cullen Bunn, who has been co-writing the current Savage Six storyline alongside Remender that pits Venom against the likes of Crime Master, Jack O’Lantern, the Human Fly, Megatak, Death Adder, and the new Toxin, Eddie Brock.

Everything that has plagued Flash Thompson since the beginning of this series comes together here as “Savage Six” begins. The Crime Master is assembling a crew to take down Agent Venom so you know this story is going to be packed with crazy villains and fun action. This issue acts as a prologue to that story as Venom begins his mission and Crime Master finishes putting together his crew.
