Ubisoft Developing Films For Three More Games
Looks like Ubisoft isn’t content with just having two of its game franchises enter the silver screen.
The company, which reportedly already has films based on Assassin’s Creed with Michael Fassbender, Ghost Recon with Michael Bay, and Splinter Cell with Tom Hardy, announced plans for a few more titles with one that hasn’t even been released as a game yet.
More details after the break.
According to Variety, Ubisoft is hoping to develop films for Watch Dogs, Far Cry, and Rabbids.
The game company plans on packaging the film projects and shopping them around to studios. Ubisoft will maintain creative control of the film projects.
And under direction from UMP CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet, they will hire the screenwriters, directors, and cast and choose the production shingles and studios it wants to work with, as well as finance the development of the scripts.
With so much control, the company is aiming to have it where no one can tell them to do a movie a certain way.
So I guess this means we can officially erase the Uwe Boll directed Far Cry from our memories.
