THE SPECIALIST THAT TREATS BACK PAIN

There is a general term in different field of endeavor in life that is used for referring to experts in such field, a field like the engineering field is a very broad field that has a lot of specializations that ranges from mechanical, electrical, petroleum, chemical, to even agriculture and some other advanced and important part of the engineering field. However, whoever and everyone that is attached to any of these specialties is mostly and usually tagged with the name “Engineer” with or without the knowledge of their area of expertise by the person calling them that. This is also the same for a field such as medicine where it seems that everyone that wears a white apron and holds a stethoscope is referred to as a doctor even when you do not know if they are medical doctors or not. Except for the case of costume, I believe it is inappropriate to use a stethoscope if you are not medically inclined on how to use it. A back specialist or a back doctor is the name that is generally used to refer to all who are inclined in the direction of treating back pains even though many health practitioners can care for patients with back or spinal conditions.

The different categories of health professionals that treat back pain even though they are generally referred to as back specialist varies based on their training and interests.  However, it is most common to start by reaching out to a primary care provider when experiencing any sort of pain in your back which is commonly referred to as a medical doctor, or a chiropractor. If after that the back pain is not responding to the first treatment you might want to consider a spine specialist or a back specialist, so below is the list of the three broad groups of health practitioners that take care of the back.

1. A primary health care provider is often the first person a patient will reach out to when struck with back pain, and it includes Family practice doctors, Obstetricians, Internists, Gynecologists, Chiropractors, Pediatricians, and also Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine.
2. Spine Specialist or Back Specialist, this is the group of physicians that own the name back specialist as they have more specialization in this particular area, and that includes, Physiatrists, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Neurologists, and Rheumatologists.
3. Therapists, while the last group is skilled in either physical or occupational rehabilitation for pains experienced in the back or psychological help for chronic pain, and these include, Occupational therapists, Physical therapists, and Clinical Psychologists.
